I was an outstanding experience learned a lot made some great papricash and goulash outstanding
We booked the market tour and cooking class. Brigi was very informative and patient with us. Food and wine was delicious and got to bring back extra strudel. Would definitely book again.
The cooking class was great! Signed up and paid for the market tour but there was no communication about that part. I don’t think the cooking place even knew that was part of it. So don’t know if it was a Viator mistake or what. But we finally made it to the class and we were the only ones in the class so it was a great private experience. The chef was awesome! Really enjoyed the class but feel we over payed since we didn’t get the market tour.
Great opportunity to learn about Hungarian recipes and how to prepare them as well as Hungarian traditions. Our chef instructor was fantastic! We discussed food and Hungarian life while cooking, dining and tasting Hungarian beverages. It was a perfect way to end our Budapest adventure before returning home.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I am glad that we were able to give you fond memories through Hungarian traditions, food, and hospitality :) I hope to see you again in Budapest next time.
Really great experience! I loved the market tour and learned a lot about the Hungarian food. The cooking class was also awesome with easy to follow instructions for very popular Hungarian dishes
I try to take a cooking class when I am visiting a new country. I am interested in learning to cook cuisine from the region. Of the several cooking classes I have taken, this class was without a doubt the best one. Betty, class instructor, was excellent. She was easy to understand and explained the techniques well. The meal we prepared was Creamy Potato Soup, Chicken Paprikas with Spaetzle and Palacsinta. Betty's instruction for preparing the food was great. I leaned many things that I will easily transfer to other items I will cook when I get home. Besides the food, Betty shared some of the history and culture of food in Hungary. This trip, I visited four countries and can sincerely say, the best meal I had was one I helped prepare myself! Also to note, once my class was booked the Chefparade folks were really good at communicating. I got lost and had to call the school and they stayed with me until I found my way. Betty was out on the street ready to greet me. Also to note the school is set up really well. I am so very pleased with this experience.
Dear Raelen, Thank you very much for your kind words! It's a pleasure to welcome you to the world of Hungarian hospitality and gastronomy :) That's why we're here :) to help you, and to share with you not only the recipes, but also our love of our food and culture.
I enjoyed the experience very much. Betty met me at the Central Market Hall and showed me around, explaining many Hungarian products/foods (and sampling a few). She purchased some of the ingredients we’d use in the cooking class that morning. A taxi ride to the nice cooking studio, a snack with some of the foods she purchased (Hungarian sheep’s milk cottage cheese, special beef salami, various picked vegetables, hot paprika condiment…) and then we started cooking. It’s a hands on process (not just watching) and I had a “private” session since no one else had signed up for that day. They had asked after I registered if I could do a different day, but my schedule in Budapest didn’t work for that and they accommodated me. We made potato soup, chicken paprikash and apple strudel. Delicious! I purchased their “Hungarian Classics” cookbook so I can make these and many others at home (it’s in English and has lots of step by step photos and tips, hints and background/history info). Hint - don’t eat a large breakfast before class.
Sara, You are soo sweet, Thanks for your kind words, I am glad you came and special thanks for your interest in Hungarian food :) I hope you enjoy your new Hungarian cookbook and prepare lots of delicious meals. Feel free to contact us if you have questions, you have my contact details.
Bernadett was a lovely hostess. Our time in the market was informative and sweet (we had a chocolate treat AND a plum strudel). Both were excellent. And making the meal was wonderfully organized and well paced. We made potato soup, chicken paprikash, spaetzle, and sour cherry pie. It was delicious - as good as anything I’ve had in my stay in Budapest. This was a delightful time and I wish I’d done it earlier in my visit. Don’t eat breakfast before this class!!!
This was a wonderful experience. Bernadette took us through the Central Market to purchase a few items for our class while providing us with some tasty treats including a scrumptious plum strudel. In the kitchen it was all hands-on as we prepared potato soup, chicken paprikas with homemade dumplings and sour cherry pie for dessert. Bernadette’s a great instructor! I can’t wait to prepare this entire menu at home!
My husband and I were lucky to be paired up with Vesna for a wonderful day of learning, cooking, eating, and drinking. Vesna was fabulous, she was honest and not going to be selling us on anything that was not of high quality, she had our full trust in her recommendations and the end result was an absolutely delicious meal. We have since had Hungarian ingredients shipped to Colorado, USA, just to try and replicate these fantastic meals, and Vensa would be proud to hear that we've made some pretty delicious dishes since our class! We were paired with just one other person and had a great time getting to know everyone, learning about Hungary via food, and made a friend along the way. Highly recommend this class as well as the market tour if you are very into cooking and even if you are not, Vesna's passion is incredibly intoxicating and I can guarantee you'll have a great time! Thank you Vesna!! From Nicole and Matan in Colorado, USA. :)
