This was a blast! Got to ride in a massive jeep that took us to the glacier. We walked across the glacier and went to multiple ice caves. Our guide Valentiñ was amazing!
Amazing experience! Our guide was great, very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! I would highly recommend this to everyone
Our driver and snowmobile guides were great! However once we boarded and got down the road the driver informed us that the ice caves were not going to be open that day, which was a huge disappointment as that was one of the main things we wanted to see in Iceland. On top of that, a vehicle got stuck which delayed our return significantly and the other activities we had planned for the day had to be canceled. The snowmobile activity was okay, it was slow going. I would have expected a partial refund of our 5 tickets for the ice caves not being open and for the delayed return, but there was no manager there to speak to.
This excursion is very remote and also be aware that travel conditions by road can be unpredictable. Our family did not feel safe traveling the distance with 50 km/h winds and widespread road closures. We were in contact and felt confident that any reasonable person would understand the situation, however we were unable to cancel due to “24 hour policy”. That’s BS. Try a different tour group, no refund $1000 down the toilet. Thanks for nothing.
Tour was delayed due to weather but they took us as soon as it cleared. Awesome experience. 5 caves. Great knowledge.
We did a glacier tour yesterday and it was truly unforgettable. Our guide was incredibly accommodating with our family, especially with our two kids (ages 5 and 8), which made a big difference. Shout out to “Benny” for the knowledge facts and tour! It was described as a “picture perfect” day—and while the views absolutely lived up to that, the winds and elements were still intense. This is definitely not a casual զբ stroll; as they reminded us beforehand, this isn’t Disney. Staying close to your kids and being prepared for real conditions is important. That said, for adventure-loving, well-behaved kids who don’t mind a bit of a hike, this experience is beyond worth it. Seeing the glacier up close was breathtaking and honestly life-changing. One of those moments we’ll be talking about for years.
It’s the perfect amount of time to explode some ice caves! I think anything longer than that would’ve been too much. Our tour guide was amazing as well. I’d highly recommend this tour if you wanna check out some ice caves and don’t have as much time.
Fantastic experience with a super guide (unfortunately I don't remember the name)...prepared and nice! He told us the story of the glacier, explained the differences and involved with activities!
What a great trip! We had the pleasure of going on a tour with Ingo (nick name I believe) and it was a great time. With all honesty, the ice caves are very dependent on the weather, global warming, time of year, and other factors. Going in winter, the weather is colder and some caves will form in this but warmer days may result in smaller caves, due to melting and safety. Glaciers are melting at an alarming rate, these caves and tunnels are changing every day. It is still an amazing experience to see these glacier, walk on them, learn about them and see these huge walls and tunnels that are around. For them to be blue, the weather must be cold so please understand your expectations and also realistically what is possible during your trip. It is a fantastic tour and don’t think that just because it’s not Instagram perfect, it is not something to appreciate and witness.
Make sure you get there early. It can be confusing to find your guide as all the operators are in one place. Our guide Mary was absolutely amazing.
