La nostra crociera è unica in quanto operiamo nella variegata baia di Algoa, ricca di fauna selvatica e storia. Visitando l'isola di St Croix, che ospita metà dei mondi rimasti in pericolo di pinguini africani. Questo tour viene eseguito solo una volta al giorno invece di provare a eseguire più crociere in un giorno. Questo assicura che i nostri skipper e guide siano sempre aggiornati e attenti ad ogni crociera e consentano di dedicare più tempo e sforzi alla ricerca di animali selvatici nella nostra baia o all'osservazione di qualcosa di speciale che incontriamo a condizione che nessuno a bordo abbia fretta di ottenere ritorno per un volo o prenotazioni effettuate in precedenza. Il nostro obiettivo principale è l'educazione, la conservazione e l'assistenza nella ricerca, resa possibile dai fondi generati dalle nostre crociere marine marine nella baia di Algoa. Gli alberi sono piantati per bilanciare la nostra impronta di carbonio per ogni crociera condotta. Utilizziamo barche più piccole per mantenere le nostre crociere personali. I nostri skipper e guide sono molto competenti e sono lì per rispondere a qualsiasi domanda e soddisfare le esigenze dei nostri ospiti.

Itinerario
Incontriamo i nostri ospiti alle 8 del mattino e dopo un breve briefing prima di uscire nella bellissima Algoa Bay di PE sul nostro catamarano bimotore. La stagione delle balene inizia a giugno quando vediamo le megattere che si muovono lungo la costa mentre si dirigono lungo la costa orientale dell'Africa verso i loro luoghi di riproduzione. Le balene megattere possono essere viste nella baia di Algoa da giugno a inizio dicembre. Fanno il viaggio di ritorno da ottobre, femmine con vitelli al seguito. Le balene australi possono essere avvistate vicino alla costa da luglio a settembre.
I tursiopi indo-pacifici sono i delfini più frequentemente osservati nella baia e possono essere avvistati tutto l'anno, in gruppi da 10 a 400. Questi giocosi delfini si trovano principalmente in acque poco profonde vicino alle spiagge o intorno all'isola di St Croix, e tendono a salire direttamente sulla barca e cavalcare sulle onde di prua. I delfini comuni sono anche uno spettacolo spettacolare poiché sono visti in gruppi di 1000-2000, nuotando a grande velocità. Questi delfini vengono spesso avvistati tutto l'anno più in alto nel mare, specialmente durante i tour delle isole degli uccelli, poiché seguono grandi banchi di pesci esca che si muovono oltre la baia. Otteniamo anche delfini megattere nella baia di Algoa, che di solito si verificano in gruppi molto più piccoli, ovunque tra 1 e 20, e sono più comunemente visti durante i mesi estivi.
L'isola di St. Croix ospita 12.000 pinguini africani in via di estinzione, la più grande colonia riproduttiva trovata in Africa (anche se abbiamo perso il 70% in 10 anni). È qui che avrai un incontro ravvicinato con questi buffi uccelli. La stagione riproduttiva del pinguino africano raggiunge il suo picco tra marzo e maggio, quando potresti essere in grado di vedere i pulcini dalla barca. Oltre ai pinguini africani, sia St. Croix che l'isola di Brenton sono abitate dalla beccaccia di mare nera africana in via di estinzione, dai cormorani dal petto bianco e dai cormorani del Capo. Il gruppo dell'isola di St. Croix, insieme al gruppo dell'Isola degli uccelli, è entrato a far parte dell'Addo Elephant National Park, consentendo ai ranger di pattugliare le isole in aiuto degli sforzi di conservazione per proteggere la popolazione di pinguini africani. Poiché sono aree marine protette, tieni presente che non ti è consentito effettivamente andare sulle isole.
Accanto agli animali sopra menzionati si ha la possibilità di avvistare cormorani dal petto bianco, cormorani del Capo, balenottere bryde, balenottere minori, foche del Capo, varie specie di squali, sule del Capo e varie specie di uccelli pelagici tra cui sterne, procellarie , skua, shearwa-ters e albatros.

Our trip with Raggy Charters was truly one of the most incredible experiences of our lives. A brilliant company from the booking right through to the landing. Very professional people who certainly know their stuff. We were lucky to see a humpback and her baby in May which is earlier than expected in the year. We saw 100's of dolphins, some seals parked under a cargo ship and a Brydes whale. The penguins were out swimming in the bay so we didn't see them on St Croix island but their numbers have certainly diminished due to over fishing and pollution over the last decade or more. Keep up your conservation work Raggy Tours you are desperately needed.
