Questo tour di un giorno ti dà la possibilità di avventurarti a nord dell'area di Phoenix per vedere diversi siti storici che i visitatori vengono da tutto il mondo per vedere. Walnut Canyon ha una lunga storia umana. I manufatti mostrano che i popoli arcaici, che hanno viaggiato per tutto il sud-ovest migliaia di anni fa, a volte hanno occupato il canyon. Meteor Crater, chiamato anche Barringer Crater, è un cratere da impatto meteoritico a circa 37 miglia a est di Flagstaff e 18 miglia a ovest di Winslow. Durante gli anni '60 e '70, gli astronauti della NASA si sono addestrati nel cratere per prepararsi alle missioni Apollo sulla Luna. Il Meteor Crater è uno dei pochi luoghi sulla terra che è un sito di impatto meteorico esposto, e ancora completamente intatto, che emulerebbe la superficie della luna. Nel 1984 il film di John Carpenter Starman con Jeff Bridges fece alcune riprese qui. Visita anche il Barringer Space Museum. Una passeggiata sulla piattaforma panoramica è il modo migliore per vedere il cratere.
Jackson Browne e Glen Frey degli Eagles hanno scritto una canzone intitolata "Take It Easy" nel 1972, una delle linee popolari della canzone è "Standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona". Nel 1999, in risposta ai testi che l'hanno resa famosa, la città di Winslow ha eretto una statua di bronzo a grandezza naturale e un murale per commemorare la canzone, poi nel 2016 dopo la morte di Frey una sua statua a grandezza naturale è stata aggiunta allo Standin' sul Parco d'angolo. Quindi, mentre ci fermiamo a Winslow per il nostro pranzo, possiamo cogliere l'occasione per scattare una foto in questa località famosa in tutto il mondo. In città si trova anche l'ultima Harvey House (La Posada Hotel), progettata da Mary Colter, inaugurata nel 1930. L'hotel è stato chiuso nel 1957 ed è stato utilizzato dalla Ferrovia di Santa Fe per uffici. La ferrovia ha abbandonato La Posada nel 1994 e ha annunciato l'intenzione di demolirla. È stato acquistato, restaurato e ora funge da albergo. Il pranzo sarà presso La Posada ed è incluso nella quota del tour (fino a $ 20 a persona).

Incredible site about a meteor hitting earth. What a huge impact. They have a nice visitor center with good information. We enjoyed our visit very much.
Todd did a great job in guiding the tour. The view was great and the restaurant was really interesting. The lunch really exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoyed something other than desert in Arizona.

Walnut Canyon and its history were amazing to see and learn. I had long wanted to see Meteor Crater. Both seeing the site of the ancient impact and learning the stories about it since were great.
I went without any expectations and was blown away. This was done so well. Many interactive experiences. I learned a lot about space. I had no idea the largest impact crater in the world was here in Arizona! The music as you walk in was perfect. They have a short movie and a 4 D experience. A place to have a drink as well. I am so glad I went. $29 for adults and $27 for seniors.❤️❤️❤️🌍
This was a private tour - just Todd and my husband and I. Very comfortable vehicle and Todd knew where and when to direct us as our guide without joining our experience. We first got a choice of walking the 1 hour Walnut Canyon or just look from the 3-4 look out points above. We did the walk comfortably although there are a lot of steps. We then went to Meteor Crater and had plenty of time to see the short film and view and photograph the amazing crater. Lastly lunch was at the very historic La Pasado Hotel before “standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona” … as you do!! Highly recommend.
Everything about our 12+hours day was amazing. Todd communicated with us before our trip and picked us up at our hotel on time and in a clean and spacious F150 crew cab. Our first stop was Walnut Canyon. This is a place we would not have know about unless we took this tour. It was beautiful, amazing and historical. Todd knew a lot about the site. Next we went to The Meteor Crater. Another absolutely amazing destination. Todd shared many details about it as well. Lunch was at historical Las Posadas. Very cool having lunch at a Harvey's Restaurant location. Again Todd was very knowledgeable. Snapped pictures and shopped at "THE corner in Winslow Arizona"!!! The entire trip was catered to my husband and me, since it was a private tour. We spent as long as we wanted at every destination and never felt rushed. Todd was a wonderful conversationalist and oh so knowledgeable. He even gave us ideas of places we could go on other days of our trip. And as we loved this tour so much we took his suggestion and was not disappointed! I highly recommend HAT to anyone coming to the Phoenix area. When we come back we will be using HAT again. Thanks again Todd!
All day private tour to Meteor Crater, Walnut Canyon and Winslow. Todd was a great conversationalist, providing great stories and information about sites along the way. Did a circle route from our hotel pick up in Scottsdale; scenery was amazing! Would highly recommend this tour and guide. Fantastic!
