We've done the Bow St. Distillery Experience in Dublin before, but this was an all-around better and more thorough experience and tour. Our guide, Neal, was lovely -- energetic, knowledgeable, and full of good info. I personally really appreciated the broader look at the full "portfolio" of Jameson products (Redbreast, Method and Madness, Green Spot, etc.) instead of solely the different Jameson varieties. It was cool to see the different historic areas where they once produced the whiskey. The campus itself is beautiful: picturesque and historic. My favorite part of the tour (aside from the tasting) was seeing the cask room and seeing the different stages of the aging process.
Fantastic experience. Only one small comment: it was difficult to hear the tour guide at certain times. It would be useful to give them a small microphone so all participants can hesr them better and they don't have to shout. Other than that we loved it! And would definitely reccomend it to friends
For those of you who are unfamiliar with whiskey and even those who are, I highly revommend the Whiskey Flight Premium Tasting. Our host was Mike who was extremely knowledgeable about the 4 different manufacturers of the ones we sampled. There were 6 of us, each having questions to which he politely and thoroughly answered. This is a must do when visiting Midleton in County Cork.
This was a highlight of our trip to Ireland. Joe our tour guide was excellent in showing us the history and distilling process of Powers, Jameson and Mitchels and how the three became one and the distillers formed the company we know today. We paid for the special tasting and it was worth every penny, the top shelf whiskeys we tasted were better than many of the whiskeys I have had before. I recommend this for anyone who likes history or spirits.
We did the premium tasting and we highly recommend it. The tour itself was very informative and interactive. The distillery is beautiful!
The Jameson Experience is a must-do! Our guide was amazing and the history of Jameson was fascinating! The whiskey tasting is a bonus!
Really enjoyed the whole experience, particularly as a long time Jameson Irish whisky drinker. Very interesting and informative and well worth the price. Particularly enjoyed the post-tour tasting - excellent selections.
Booked the premium tasting experience rather than a tour by mistake, but glad I did. Tom our host did a fantastic job walking us thru the four premium whiskey’s ( including the Midleton) and what makes them distinctive. Had such a good experience we did the general tour following which gave a great history of the operations at the facility.
The whole experience was so good. The guide was very informative and he explained everything. Tasting the whisky was an experience for us ladies but the men tucked to it like ducks to water
We took the behind the scenes tour. Very cool experience for anyone interested in Midleton products, and the process used to make them. Mike was an awesome and knowledgeable guide, with tons of awesome information. Even though the tour was a decent length of time, it didn't feel long. The tour group was small, so it offered for a lot of personalized attention and opportunities for questions. While the admission fee was someone steep, it was still a good experience. All of the tastings were of great product, though it would have been nice to sneak in maybe one more somewhere along the way. Other than that, it was a really cool time and definitely worth it for anyone interested in Midleton, the history of Irish whiskey and it's production, or just checking out a distillery while in Cork.
