Questo edificio fu un palazzo, una fortezza, la residenza di Isabella I di Castiglia e Fernando II d'Aragona, una prigione, nel 1931 è stato dichiarato patrimonio di interesse culturale e nel 1994 Patrimonio dell'Umanità dell'UNESCO. Il complesso architettonico ha un carattere sobrio nei suoi esterni e spettacolare nei suoi interni, con i suoi magnifici giardini e cortili che conservano ancora lo stile Mudéjar.

In origine basilica visigota di San Vicente, diventò moschea e poi una cattedrale cristiana. È uno dei monumenti più visitati al mondo.

The ruins are very interesting and still surprisingly intact in much of the site. Our guide Pilar was very knowledgeable about the history of the site and specific aspects of it.

This tour was great and really informative. We really learned a lot about the history of the Mezquita and how it has transformed over time across the different eras. Unlike some other tours I did in Spain, this one was worth the money.

Absolutely superb experience, marvellous sites , incredible history. A must do if your in Cordoba, Maria was my guide for the Alcazar which was incredible, she was knowledgeable and such a great guide. The second part of my tour was with Paki for the Mesquit of Cordoba, the Mosque and she was equally great. Very knowledgeable and her explanation of the history was brilliant. Both spoke English well and woukd definitely recommend . The communication on the day of the tour from them was excellent
