Tra Piazza Venezia e il Colosseo, Via dei Fori Imperiali è un maestoso viale scavato nel cuore della Roma antica. Fiancheggiata dalle rovine dei Fori Imperiali - quello di Cesare, quello di Augusto, quello di Nerva e quello di Traiano - offre una passeggiata mozzafiato attraverso millenni di storia. Originariamente costruita sotto Mussolini tra il 1924 e il 1932, la strada rivela e divide zone archeologiche chiave, rendendola un nastro drammatico di civiltà in cui passato e presente si intersecano.
Il Foro Romano, noto anche con il nome latino Forum Romanum, è un foro rettangolare circondato dalle rovine di numerosi importanti edifici governativi antichi al centro della città di Roma. Centro politico e commerciale dell'antica Roma, i percorsi di allerta sono coperto di storia. È qui che i cittadini venivano ad ascoltare discorsi, a incontrare i senatori o a vedere personaggi come Giulio Cesare o Cicerone. Le rovine raccontano una storia, ed è la storia di Roma e della sua politica, con l'antica Curia (il Senato) ancora visibile, ma anche con le imponenti colonne di marmo dei templi che furono eretti per la prima volta nel V secolo a.C.
La Curia Julia, voluta da Giulio Cesare e completata sotto Augusto nel 29 a.C., fungeva da luogo di riunione del Senato romano. Situata nel Foro Romano, la sua imponente struttura rettangolare simboleggiava il cuore politico dell’antica Roma. Sorprendentemente ben conservato, trasmette ancora il potere e Lumina del Senato che un tempo ha plasmato il destino dell'Impero.
Eretto nel Foro Romano da Augusto nel 29 a.C., il Tempio di Divus Giulio onorò il divinizzato Giulio Cesare dopo il suo assassinio. Sorgendo sul sito della cremazione di Cesare, il tempio divenne un luogo di culto e simbolismo politico, dove i cittadini potevano rendere omaggio al primo Leader divinizzato di Roma. Oggi, rimangono solo rovine, eppure il sito continua a incarnare il punto di svolta da Repubblica a Impero.
Uno dei luoghi più sacri dell'antica Roma, il Tempio di Vesta era dedicato alla dea del focolare. Il suo disegno circolare simboleggiava l'eternità e la continuità dello stato romano, mentre all'interno bruciava la fiamma eterna, curata dalle Vestali. Anche se oggi rimangono solo frammenti, il tempio evoca ancora la profonda vita spirituale del Foro Romano.
L'Arco di Tito, costruito nell'81 d.C. dall'imperatore Domiziano, commemora le vittorie di suo fratello Tito, tra cui la conquista di Gerusalemme. In piedi all’ingresso del Foro Romano lungo la Via Sacra, l’arco trionfale è decorato con dettagliati rilievi raffiguranti il bottino di guerra e il corteo trionfale dell’imperatore. Rimane un potente simbolo della gloria imperiale e della maestria architettonica di Roma.
L’Arco di Costantino, eretto nel 315 d.C. vicino al Colosseo, celebra la vittoria dell’imperatore Costantino su Massenzio nella battaglia del Ponte Milviano. Ornata da rilievi e sculture riutilizzate da monumenti precedenti, simboleggia sia la grandezza della Roma imperiale che il passaggio a una nuova era sotto il dominio di Costantino. Oggi, si erge come uno degli archi trionfali più iconici del mondo antico.

We were 4 people. My father and his wife are both in 80s with very limited speed. Our Driver picked us up and was very patient and kind. Her brought us to the tour guide Barbara. She was very knowledgeable and walked at a slow pace as not to rush us. My father was very impressed with her knowledge of the area. After the Colosseum my Dad and his wife decided they could not do the Forum and the walking was tough. She called the driver brought them back to meet the driver and my husband and I went on to finish the tour. We really enjoyed the day and highly recommend.

We have been blessed to travel around the world and we were equally blessed to be on this amazing tour with Denis learning about the ancient history of Roma and the Colosseum. Denis was an incredible guide who welcomed us with a warm smile and treated us to a great tour! We spent a lot of time learning about the history and architecture and he both readily and easily answered our questions. He had picture of what the ancient city looked like giving us a perspective of what that area looked like at the height of its architectural glory. He navigated us easily through the crowds. We never felt rushed or inundated by the crowds around us. Being in the Colosseum itself was awe inspiring, not only for its beauty and historical significance but because Denis really brought the games to life with his vast knowledge of the history, which brought the Colosseum to life. We had a private Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill tour with Denis, and he was excellent. He clearly knew the history, cared that our family stayed engaged, and gave us more time and attention than expected. The Forum, Palatine Hill views, and Colosseum were all much more meaningful because of his explanations. Dennis is also an excellent photographer and took the best picture of our entire trip. Great private guide and a very worthwhile Rome experience.

First up, they pick us up from our hotel and took us back after the tour which was fabulous! The drivers were friendly and contacted our tour guide so the pick up and drop off was seamless. Next the tour was guided by the wonderful Maria Serena Lanfranca. She was patient with our many questions and very well versed on the history. She had a visual guide for many of the ruins showing us the before and current looks. It was so helpful. I cannot stress enough to book with Maria Serena! She was fantastic! Best tour we had in Rome!
