There was very old van with no ac and he had 16 people all sit into the 1 van like sardines and people were sitting half on seat and some Sitting on lap to accommodate everyone in 1 van. He didn’t put ac and it was hot. Took us to bay and it smelled so bad and the water where we entered the kayak was stagnant. Not much bio illumination was noted. I have used viator before and enjoyed my trips. This was the worst experience we had. Not worth to take ferry to island for that.
Our guide was great, very talkative, and also gave space to have your own conversations and fun. I’ve done clear and non clear kayaks, I 100% recommend the clear one.
Super fun experience. Our guide was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable on the science and history of the bioluminescence. The clear kayaks were a great choice. It looked like stars under the kayaks. Would definitely recommend going around the New Moon it was pitch black and very easy to see the bioluminescence.
Our reservation to get picked up (meeting point) was at 9:00pm (as said on this app/our tickets), we would’ve gotten there at 8:55pm, which would have been 5 minutes early but weren’t given the chance to do so before they called me at 8:51 to inform us that our reservation was moved to 10:00pm instead, since they decided to leave without us prior to our reservation time despite being early and paying $340 for 5 people.
We have done this experience in the past twice and couldn’t wait to bring our family to do it with us again . We were a party of 8 (4 adults, 1 teen, 3 kids). Our guide Ramon just briefly explained how to paddle to the group and once we were on the bay, he took off without explaining how long we were going for. We paddled against the wind for about 20 min (at least we’re healthy and have done it before so were able to make it). He then stopped and talked about the bio for like 5 min, so soft we couldn’t really hear much. The guide behind us didn’t even have a light so it was hard to keep track of the group. At least the bioluminescence was good and the paddling back was easy as it was going with the wind. Wouldn’t recommend to do it with this company there are others with better service and experience.
The meeting point was a little confusing at first, but don’t let that deter you—it was absolutely worth it. I called to make sure we were waiting in the right place, and the bus driver answered immediately. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and made us feel at ease from the start. Once we got to the bay, the experience exceeded every expectation. Our two guides on the water were fantastic—so knowledgeable and passionate. They didn’t just lead the tour; they explained the science behind the bioluminescence in a way that was fascinating and easy to understand. Seeing the bay light up was honestly one of the coolest things we’ve ever experienced. It felt magical, and it’s something our family will never forget. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Vieques!
The location is across the street from the realty place. The maps had it next door. Absolutely fantastic experience. The road to the bay is rough, but small price to pay for breathtaking skies and glowing water. The guide was great, knowledgeable and very laid back.
This was the highlight of our trip to Puerto Rico! I can't emphasize enough how much of a difference it made to have the clear kayaks - being able to see the bioluminescence through the bottom of the boat was magical. Our guide, Ramon, was great - such a character and have some interesting info about the bioluminescence. The only tricky part was finding the pickup location. Give yourself plenty of time. We gave our taxi driver the address and they dropped us off on a street with multiple tour groups so we needed to ask around and walk down the street until we found the right one. There was no sign, just a small, dingy looking school bus parked at the back of the space. It would definitely help for them to post signs and make the pickup area more clear. Once we found it, everything went smoothly. Be prepared to walk into the water knee deep to get in your kayak. Also know you will get wet from about the waste down from paddling. The good news is there were no mosquitoes, despite the name of the bay, so you don't need long sleeves or bug repellent. Overall this was a memorable experience for the hilarious quirks of the tour and the beauty of the bay.
Ramon was a very knowledgeable tour guide, provided a calming presence, put safety first, and made sure we got back in time to make the ferry. 10000/10 recommend booking. The clear kayaks were definitely worth the extra $.
What an amazing experience! Even under the full moon, which was incredible to kayak under, they made it pitch black and we were able tosee beautiful by luminescence under the tarp. Our guide was fantastic and he successfully paddled my senior 70-year-old brother out and back all the while educating us on the beautiful place we so lucky to be at!
