Do you want memories that have you fall in love with Italy? Do this tour! It was the best 14 hours ever. You may feel it is pricey but it is not. It is worth it.
Excellent experience! Such a wonderful way to see and experience towns outside of Rome while cycling through the countryside.
Highlight of our first trip to Italy! We did this private tour with our two boys ages 9 and 12, and it was a long day for all but truly amazing. The food and wine was delicious, the pace perfect, and the company of our guide Klaas delightful . The e bikes worked perfectly and by then end we all felt like we got the right amount of exercise and a novel experience of the Italian country side. The medieval towns( a tiny town on top of cliffs in the middle of a valley , that now only has 10 inhabitants) as well as Orvieto were breathtaking. Felt like we stepped back in time. The day really was perfect and our kids favorite day of the entire trip . Great trip for active families( there are height minimums for kids and they do need to have the physical and emotional stamina for a 13 hour day!) . I imagine would also be great for groups of friends or anyone else who likes a good bike ride and very unique experience . It was a perfect thing to do to get out of the city for a day . Thank you! (Also going in July was hot and sunny but we stopped for lots of water and found lots of shade along the way)
Dear Rebecca, Thank you! We love the fact that you had such an amazing day with our super guide Klaas, and that you've enjoyed the food, the wine, the bikes, the countryside, and the towns! We are delighted to hear that your kids have enjoyed it so much as well and that they had the physical and emotional stamina for such a long day! We'd like to thank you again, and hope to welcome you another time in the future!
The Medieval Towns tour was cancelled and I changed to the Appian Way with Catacombs tour. It was a very fun & interesting day of riding. I highly recommend touring with Top Bike Tours. The guide was excellent.
This was a great trip. All the logistics were handled by the company (lunch, snacks, dinner, wine, train tickets, etc.). This is a hilly ride, so I recommend the Ebike if you are not a major cyclist. We enjoyed the train ride, then bike a bit before getting a break to visit Civita di Bagnoregio. We then biked on to Orvieto where we had additional free time before the dinner and wine tasting. The dinner service was exceptional and the wine was very good. I highly recommend this adventure. It was one of my favorite days in Rome.
This trip was a highlight of our visit to Rome. The course laid out by Top Bikes is perfect, with moderate climbing early in the day, and predominantly downhill after lunch. I opted out of the electric bike (no need for mopeds on a bicycle ride), but can see where some would want that option. Overall, the trip is very attainable for those with at least moderate fitness. The scenery was amazing, and such a pleasant change from the crowds of Rome. In particular, the dinner in Orvieto was amazing. Our guide, Emanuele, did an amazing job of leading us through the day and making sure the timing worked at each step of the way.
What a beautiful ride!! We spent 2 days prior to this tour in Rome visiting very crowded touristy sites, so it was a very welcome change of pace to get out of busy Rome into countryside. Riding from bike shop to Roma Termini is a bit tricky but our guide Emanuele guided us through expertly. Train ride to Alviano took just under an hour, and from there, we cruised through farm fields and up the hill to Civita di Bagnoregio. My boyfriend rode a normal mountain bike and the rest of us rode e-assist bikes. Picked up sandwiches in town and walked up to Civita di Bagnoregio to have picnic lunch in a historic beautiful town. So much fun! After lunch, we meandered down toward Orvieto through vineyards and took cable car up to the actual town of Orvieto. After exploring Orvieto on our own, we settled down at Cantina Foresi by the cathedral. Wow, amazing meats and lasagna!!! Each food was paired with house made wines. Great way to cap the wonderful ride. Our guide Emanuele was super knowledgable about everything and provided very clear instructions on logistical steps ahead, such as getting on and off train, riding on winding road, etc. We felt very well taken care of with Emanuele guiding us along. For those considering this tour, here are some pointers to help with your decision: + It absolutely helps if you have some cycling experience and some fitness even though they provide e-assist bikes. + If you decide to do this ride, it also helps to bring your bike shorts with good chamois. Although the saddles on the bikes are relatively cushy, you do spend a lot of time on them and some padding will save your tush. + Ride after dinner was in the darkness. In October, air was already chilly so make sure to bring warmer, wind blocking jacket.
Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio are amazing towns and seeing them by bike is a perfect way to experience them. Our guide, Daniele, helped us to have an amazing experience. I had seen pictures of both Civita and Orvieto, but the reality of the places was much richer than I had imagined. A truly great experience if you want to take a break from Rome.
Village very well maintained, perched on the hill reachable only via a pedestrian bridge .. with a bit of climb. if you suffer from dizziness is hard. very nice view. all out of time.
My partner booked the Bagnoreggio and Orvieto e-bike tour for us as a surprise, and we had a fantastic day with our guide Emanuel (and one other booked person, so we were 4 in total), who looked after us very well. We met at 8am and first had to cycle through some streets to get to the train station, then load our bikes on for the one hour train journey to Alviano. After an included breakfast of pizza and a capppucino (nicer than it sounds!) we started the biking through very picturesque countryside. The bikes were great, the Turbo setting really does take the strain - I'm not an experienced cyclist and other than the discomfort from sitting on the saddle all day, I found it very manageable. Both Bagnoreggio and Orvieto were amazing (with a panini lunch included) and we finished with a very good selection meal and wines in Cantina Foresi by the cathedral. Then the funicular back down to the station and train back to Rome. A long day but so worth it, and we'd definitely do this again.
