We took the sunset wildlife tour, great views of the island and wildlife, comfortable boat, our guide had binoculars for viewing, was local and knowledgeable, definitely recommend this tour and company!
We thoroughly enjoyed our sunset cruise. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Chincoteague since his family have been residents of the island for many generations. His commentary was very engaging and he even offered to take our photo during the sunset. Even though the ponies were shy for most of our journey, they did start appearing towards the end. Remember that these are wild animals and you do not have a guarantee for an up close encounter. As our guide said, it’s not a zoo and they are free to roam-sometimes opting to stay in the trees. Never-the-less, this cruise was the highlight of our trip and I highly suggest taking the journey during your visit.
Captain Michael was wonderful. We saw lots of dolphins and a few wild horses. A little cloudy for sunset but the sky lit up with hues of pink and purple. So beautiful. Amazing time on the water with friends!
The captain was very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about both Chincoteague and Assateague Islands, their histories, and the local merchants/stores. He not only took time to ensure wildlife animals were seen when spotted, but also took pride that he and his family are longtime residents allowing him to share a glimpse of what the islands have to offer to tourists.
Captain Mike was great, very knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to see some dolphins and learn about the history of the island and waterways.
