Wat Phra Singh è uno dei templi più famosi e più attraenti all'interno della città vecchia fortificata di Chiang Mai. Il tempio, noto anche come "Il monastero del Buddha leone", è un tempio attivo, con molti monaci e novizi che vivono lì. Wat Phra Singh risale al XIV secolo, quando Chiang Mai era la capitale del regno di Lanna, ed è uno dei migliori esempi di architettura classica del tempio in stile Lanna.
Wat Phan Tao è uno dei templi più antichi di Chiang Mai. Le prime strutture del tempio furono costruite probabilmente alla fine del XIV secolo. Situato all'interno dell'antica città fortificata, proprio accanto al Wat Chedi Luang, il Wat Phan Tao è ben noto per il suo squisito "viharn" in stile Lanna, la sala delle ordinazioni, interamente realizzata in legno di teak su una base di pietra.
Wat Chedi Luang, noto anche come "Il tempio del Grande Stupa", è un'imponente rovina del tempio. La costruzione del tempio durò dal 1391 al 1475. Anche se il tempio crollò nel 1545 a causa di un terremoto, fu per secoli l'edificio più alto di Chiang Mai. Appena fuori dal centro storico fortificato di Chiang Mai, Wat Lok Molee è uno dei templi più antichi della città. Il tempio, noto anche come Wat Lok Molee, ospita uno dei chedi più grandi e imponenti di Chiang Mai. Il massiccio chedi fu costruito nel 1527 quando doveva aver dominato la zona. Il chedi contiene le ceneri di diversi re della dinastia Mengrai, che governarono il regno di Lanna dalla fine del XIII secolo fino al 1558, quando i birmani invasero il regno.
Il bazar notturno di Chiang Mai è il mercato più famoso di Chiang Mai e una delle principali attrazioni turistiche della città. Our family went on the Tuk Tuk tour this evening and really enjoyed it. We had two tuk tuks between us and had a race between them, which our children loved.
