You must experience the culture and hospitality of a Zimbabwean family. You have not truly experienced this country unless you have done so. Bringing any type of gifts you can afford are very much appreciated.
Thank you Kei for booking with us , very appreciated and so graced to visitors in our homes and country. Life changing experiences that brings in to our lives.
During my recent visit to Victoria Falls, I had the absolute pleasure of sharing a home-cooked meal with a local family — an experience that turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of my trip. From start to finish, the evening was filled with warmth, culture, and genuine hospitality. Before dinner, we enjoyed a casual drive-by tour of the local town, which gave me a glimpse into everyday life in the area — far beyond what typical tourist routes offer. It was humbling and eye-opening to see the markets, schools, and homes that make up the real heart of Victoria Falls. Upon arriving at the family’s home, we were greeted with the kind of hospitality that instantly made us feel welcome. The conversation flowed easily as we shared stories and learned more about each other’s cultures. It didn’t feel like a “tour” — it felt like being invited over by old friends. The meal itself was incredible made by their 9 year old daughter. Every dish was homemade, rich in flavor, and deeply rooted in Zimbabwean tradition. From sadza (a maize-based staple) to flavorful beef stews and chicken, everything was made with care and love. They even took time to explain each dish, sharing the ingredients and significance behind it. This experience reminded me that travel isn’t just about seeing new places — it’s about connecting with people. If you’re visiting Victoria Falls and want to do something meaningful and authentic, I highly recommend taking part in a local family dinner like this. It’s an experience you’ll carry with you long after you’ve left the falls behind.

We didn't know what to expect when we signed up for the home hosted dinner. We just wanted to have the village/family experience and stumbled upon this gem. It was educational, fun, and a great way to learn about local family and traditions! The food was so good. Loved everything about the experience.

Nkue the tour guide, picked me up from my lodge and drove me around some of the townships where he grew up in Vic Falls. Telling me about his time growing up in the area and showing me the local markets where ingredients of the meal where bought. Nkue and his family were very welcoming and happy to answer any questions about their life. The meal was delicious and lovingly prepared by his wife. I am a vegetarian and they were able to accommodate this without me feeling I missed out on what the family may typically eat. I had a wonderful time and I can not recommend this activity enough, especially if you like me want to experience something that is not your typical tourist activity and eat some home made food.
