ATT: Algar do Carvão sarà chiuso dal 19 ottobre 2024 a data da destinarsi, durante questo periodo mostreremo invece un tubo di lava nascosto. In questo tour visiterai Algar do Carvão che è classificato come Monumento Naturale, la grotta di Natale, i fori di fumo (furnas do enxofre).

Itinerario
Si tratta di una formazione geologica molto estesa, derivante dalla formazione di un tubo di lava all'interno dell'isola, compresa nella Riserva Naturale Forestale della Serra de Santa Bárbara e Mistérios Negros.
Furnas do Enxofre si trova nella parrocchia di Porto Judeu, nel comune di Angra do Heroísmo, sull'isola di Terceira, nelle Azzorre. Costituisce un campo fumarolico, cioè un'area che comprende diverse uscite di gas vulcanici aggressivi, a diverse temperature, alcune piuttosto elevate.
Andremo in un tubo di lava che non è aperto al turismo quindi è tutto naturale, pochissime persone sanno dove si trova. hai la possibilità di entrare o meno.

This was a wonderful experience. We were picked up from the hotel by our guide Bernardo in a jeep. It was just me, my husband, and my 5 year old daughter. Bernardo was very personable and a wealth of information. We learned so much about the island, its history, and its culture. We never felt rushed and he was so good with our daughter. The caves are a must see if you are visiting the island. He also gave us several recommendations for restaurants and places to go with our daughter during our stay on the island. Strongly recommend booking!

Antonio was extremely knowledgeable about all thing Terciera. The history, flora, fauna and geological history. He was also fun, friendly and very accommodating. He offered to tailor the tour to whatever we wanted. The jeep was clean and comfortable. He picked us up exactly on time. We saw 2 volcano tubes, a volcano and sulfur pit (which is way more beautiful than it sounds). He also offered to reach out any time about anything terceira. I feel like we made a friend here.

The different sites were each interesting in their own way. The “chimney” was beautiful. Beyond the caves, we learned about the history, culture, plant life, people, lifestyle, and more from our guide. We hadn’t even picked up the second family in our jeep and it already had felt like a full tour because of all that we learned from Bernardo. Bernardo was an outstanding tour guide. Not only was he constantly educating us and answering questions, he was clearly passionate about conservation and the caves. Great tour.

Fantastic tour. Guide was very knowledgeable. We were the only two people on the your so was like a vip tour. Visited a cave that is not normally open to the public do got to see an unspoilt cave

It was a great tour, even if the weather didn't play along. The sightseeing list included the Gruta do Natal, the Furnas do Enxofre fumarole field and an impromptu drive to a small lagoon. Algar do Carvão was unfortunately not a program item as it was still closed. Our guide had a lot to tell and we had a lot of fun.

Bernardo picked us up promptly from our VRBO and gave us several options on our itinerary as it was raining. We saw things and learned about the island in ways that I would not have learned had we not taken this tour. Disappointed that the highlight cave was closed but we knew that in advance of booking. Highly recommend the tour and Bernardo

An extremely interesting tour, Bernardo took us to some very evocative ‘secret’ caves. He was able to convey all his enthusiasm in explaining the island to us on a lovely afternoon (despite the adverse weather). Recommended!
