Itinerario
Alla nostra prima tappa, assaggeremo la Caponata siciliana, un vivace mix di verdure fritte, principalmente melanzane, condite con salsa di pomodoro, sedano, cipolla, olive, capperi, zucchero e aceto. Con innumerevoli varianti in tutto il Mediterraneo, la caponata è oggi tipicamente servita come contorno o antipasto, anche se dal XVIII secolo veniva gustata anche come piatto principale.
Quale posto migliore del mercato locale per provare un cono di pesce fritto? Assapora un delizioso cono ripieno di vari tipi di pesce appena pescato, fritto alla perfezione. In alternativa, potrebbe esserci un altro street food locale da gustare, offrendo un vero assaggio dei sapori vivaci del mercato.
Mentre proseguiamo il tour, ci fermeremo ad assaggiare la cipollina catanese, una pasta rustica siciliana a base di pasta sfoglia e ripiena di cipolle fritte, prosciutto cotto e formaggio filante appiccicoso. Classico delle rosticcerie catanesi, delizia fin dal primo morso, con un esterno croccante e sfaldato che lascia il posto a un ripieno caldo, sapido e leggermente dolce.
Continuando il tour, avrete anche la possibilità di assaggiare la Cartocciata. Questa specialità catanese è una pasticceria rustica ripiena, profumata e saporita. Classico delle rosticcerie siciliane, è simile a un piccolo calzone al forno ma si distingue per l’impasto più alto, morbido e arioso.
Infine, il tour si conclude con un dolce siciliano. Potrai gustare un cannolo, l'iconica pasta croccante ripiena di una miscela di ricotta dolce e cremosa, spesso guarnita con frutta candita, pistacchi croccanti o gocce di cioccolato fondente. In alternativa, assaggerete una granita siciliana, un dolce ghiacciato rinfrescante perfetto per rinfrescarsi in un caldo pomeriggio estivo. Realizzato semplicemente con frutta fresca, zucchero e ghiaccio, è un modo leggero e saporito per concludere un ricco viaggio culinario in grande stile.

Guisella was a fabulous host. The tour was really informative and we learned a lot about Catania. The food was well chosen and the back stories really brings the trip alive. It felt like a tour with friends.
Had a fantastic street food tour of Catania. Our guide Carolina was excellent, sharing history and background on the food and area and ensuring the tour was highly enjoyable. Would strongly recommend!
I highly recommend this tour. Giuseppe did an amazing job!! The tour was easy to walk and we were served fresh delicious food at every stop. Giuseppe gave great history of each serving. He also touched on Sicily history and took us to the ruins of a Roman Colosseum.
Carolina our guide was wonderful very informative friendly and nothing was a problem. At first I was reluctant that it was three hours in the very hot sun and that I wouldn’t cope however the three hours was broken up into four or five different stops air-conditioned. The food was delicious and very value for money and the three hours went very very quick. She even followed up with some recommendations after the tour ended. Highly recommend this tour for all abilities.

Just Perfect!! Allegra was our tour guide on our street food walk, and she was absolutely fantastic! She guided us through the city center, taking us to authentic local spots where we enjoyed several delicious street food tastings (definitely not small portions!). Along the way, Allegra shared fascinating stories and interesting background information about Catania, its history, and its food culture, which made the experience even more special.
