Itinerario

Booked this excursion through Virgin Voyages and the description was not well worded. The “short hike” is more accurately described as a 30-40 minute climb. I am in my mid 40’s and live an active lifestyle but I do have to use knee supports with strenuous physical activity. Admittedly, I do not work out regularly, strong cardio is required to achieve this hike without struggling. I would have appreciated knowing in advance that this excursion requires a strenuous vertical climb as part of the “short hike”. The guides do advise and encourage you to stop and rest if needed. The humidity was extremely high on Feb 14, 2026 as it rained that morning. There is a couple places with benches to stop and rest as a group on the way up. They do provide one bottle of water to take on the trail. You are not allowed to take anything else with you on the trail. Lockers are provided on arrival. Once at the top of the climb, you have to discard your water bottle ( don’t worry it will be empty by then anyway). Here you begin the descent to the first waterfall. This requires going down wooden ladders. About 15 rungs. There is no other way. The ladder is the only way. At the bottom of the ladder, you enter the river. The rest of the way is in the river. At each waterfall, you slide down the waterfall (or jump at the last one) The guides give a very brief, not well worded instruction on how to slide. ⚠️ About 1/2 our group of 30 were injured in some way on this excursion ⚠️ From cuts and scrapes to severe bruises to fractured tail bones. Once you enter the river from the ladder there is no other option to get down/out than taking the waterfalls. THIS SHOULD BE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION ‼️ Now for the good parts: It was beautiful! The river is warm, clear and the rock formations were really a site to see. Once out of the River/forrest they serve a very authentic lunch of local cuisine. Not fancy, but very good food. There is bottled water provided and alcohol available for purchase. There is restroom facilities and a changing area. The guides are friendly but the whole tour is very rushed. Kind of felt like cattle being herded. We also did the ATV “adventure”. Meh… it goes across the river a couple times but other than that pretty boring. Through a cow field (yes, lots of cows) and through a small village.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. However, we need to clarify that the excursion you describe was booked through Virgin Voyages, and was not operated by Country World Adventures directly. We are an independent local tour operator, and our tours are not booked directly through cruise ships. Guests book with us through our own channels and selected online tour platforms. Because of this, your review appears to describe an experience with a different provider / booking source, and it is unfair for these comments to be posted on our company page, as they may mislead future guests and negatively affect our business. We also want to clarify that Country World Adventures is not the Damajagua Waterfalls National Park itself. While we may organize excursions to the waterfalls, park operations, park rules, trail access, and waterfall conditions are managed separately by the national park. We respectfully ask that you please verify the operator of your excursion and consider removing this review from our page and reposting it under the correct company or booking provider (Virgin Voyages / the corresponding operator), so that future guests receive accurate information. Thank you for your understanding. — Country World Adventures
What an absolutely fantastic experience. Our guide was incredible and hilarious. We had the opportunity to jump and slide down the falls multiple times. Hike was moderate strenuous to be honest mainly just the uphill aspect but they takes multiple breaks on the way up. Wish we could have done all 21 falls instead of just 7.
Safe and enjoyable jump/swimming/sliding through waterfalls. 20 minute drive from main place to waterfall outpost, then 40 minute walk to waterfalls themselves. Very busy depending on the amount of cruise ships in port at that moment.
Would not do this again. SO crowded. Standing in line in the hot sun for hours in a helmet and life jacket to eventually freeze in the water doing a couple of waterfalls. Total chaos when we arrived. They gave us keys to a locker filled with someone else's stuff. Chaotic getting equipment. Food afterwards was crap. No place to easily change after. Not a fun experience.
Dear Christie L, We are very sorry to hear that your Waterfall Adventure was not as expected, but we don’t think that you’ve did this excursion through Country World Adventures (us). We have checked ALL bookings from March 2023, which is the month you’ve indicated that you did the tour, but we could not find ANY participant under the name Christie. Our Waterfall excursion does not include lunch either, which you said you had afterwards. Only our combined adventure includes a home-cooked Dominican meal, which by 99.99% of the customers is rated as excellent and is being served at our own ranch, not at the Waterfalls. It would be really frustrating receiving a 1-star review on one of our excursions, which you were not part of. Maybe you saw our tour on TripAdvisor and thought you were reviewing the Waterfalls themselves, which is not the case. If you’d like to review the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua directly, you can do this by clicking on the following link here https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147290-d627325-Reviews-27_Waterfalls_of_Damajagua-Puerto_Plata_Puerto_Plata_Province_Dominican_Republic.html We would appreciate it if you verified with which local tour operator you’ve visited the Waterfalls and considered deleting the review from our page and post it on the correct one. Sincerely, Daniel
Only two small jumps and 3 slides that were only 4 feet in length. Not what I was expecting at all. Extremely disappointing.
Dear Kelly, To be honest your review confuses me a lot. You've booked the Waterfalls Adventure as single activity for June 22nd for a group of 4, traveling together with another group of 7 booked under Steven. The group of 11 was staying at the Presidential Suites in Cabarete and booked for Puerto Plata Pick up, which does not include transportation from Cabarete, however we decided not to charge the $10 transfer fee for person and scheduled your pick up (saving $110). You went directly to the Waterfalls and after that stopped at our park as you wanted to purchase lunch additionally and spend some time there. You and your group were very happy and even brought your own JBL speaker, listening to loud music in the restaurant, which was no bother as there were no other guests during that moment and everyone was having a good time. One of our guides, Rafael, spend most of the time with you and the group at the restaurant and entertained everyone. He introduced me to you and we were chatting about your fabulous time in Germany. At no time did you tell me (knowing that I'm the owner) or Rafael anything negative about the excursion. If you were really unsatisfied with the excursion, we would have wished you've mentioned something to us in person. Maybe we could have made it right at the moment you were at our park. Sincerely, Daniel
Once we actually made it to the falls, the experience was amazing and like nothing else we've done before. We were on a cruise and did the 7 falls as a day excursion. There were 3 ships in port the same day. The tour says the maximum group size is 30, we had no less than 100 people in our group on our tour. We spent more time stopping and waiting for everyone to catch up than actually going through the falls. It was quite chaotic at times, but the actual falls experience was amazing enough to still give this tour 4 stars. I would say on busy port days, plan for no less than 4 hours at the actual park (not including transportation to and from). The guides were fun and amazing and our kids had a great time.
Ours drivers were amazing. Very attentive and we didn't have to search for them, they were waiting for me and my sisters. I will warn you that the water at the falls is cold! Recommend a one piece bathing suit or tank top.
We did this as an excursion while sailing Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady. The check in process at the port was a little confusing. Lots of people gathered around one person to check in & get wrist bands. Our bus attendant, Chocolate, was great. We learned a lot of Dominican history on our about 30 minute bus ride. We arrived at the mountain side & were given our locker assignments and received water shoes. Then we went on the ATV ride. It was a lot of fun. And a great way to see the area. When we got back, we changed in to bathing suits, picked up our life jackets and helmets. This is a 45 minute hike straight up the side of the mountain on makeshift stairs. The incline areas were easier to walk than the stairs. You must be in decent physical shape. We had 3 guides that were a lot of fun. There were 4 of us that didn’t make it up to waterfall number 12 with the rest of the group. One of our guides, Yunior, gave us an option to cut across to waterfall 7 to wait of the group…which we did. He took great care of us, allowing us to take our time and provided lots of water. It was still fun getting to go down the rest of the way. The water was cool and refreshing. At the end, we had a wonderful Dominican lunch…all you can eat style which was good since we were starving. This is well worth the money. Even if I didn’t make it to the top.
This was a fantastic way to see the waterfalls and the Dominican countryside! Our guides, Francisco and Jose, took very good care of us. We did the waterfall and ATV tour. Our guides met us at the cruise terminal, and took us to the national park for the waterfall tour. The waterfalls are incredible, and the park has its own guides so you feel safe the whole time. After the waterfalls, we went to the Country World property for a delicious lunch and our ATV ride with Rafael. We went on some real back roads (and off road) and through some villages. It was challenging but not too hard for us first-time ATV-ers. Then our guides got us back to the port in plenty of time to get back on board. Five stars all around!
Great experience of the falls. Water was refreshing. Too bad it is a cruise ship exertion because it will ruin this beautiful place
