We had a great experience on the Waterfall Canyon hike! Our guide, Carlos, was outstanding: friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly very familiar with the area and the locals. He made us feel comfortable throughout the adventure and shared interesting information about the canyon, vegetation and local land ownership. Unfortunately, we visited during a time when there wasn’t much water flowing over the waterfall, but Carlos took us farther into the canyon to a beautiful swimming spot that made the trip worthwhile. The hike was definitely hot, so be prepared and bring plenty of water or sports drinks. We stopped prior to hiking at a local supermarket to stock up on Gatorade and fruit before heading out. The drive to the trailhead was easy on the highway, and the dirt roads off of the highway added to the sense of adventure. After the hike, we stopped at a local Mexican restaurant in a nearby village where we had some of the best lobster tacos and margaritas of our trip. It was a little more expensive than we expected for a small local restaurant, but the food was excellent. Overall, this was a fun adventure, and Carlos made the experience memorable. We’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore a different side of Cabo, just be aware that the amount of water at the waterfall depends on the season.
Great adventure! Carlos has been exceptional and very knowledgeable. I would come back and do it again.
We booked with Max to take a tour with Carlos, who came highly recommended by one of my collogues and he did not disappoint! The location of the hike was in the mountains, and he brought us through a loop on dirt roads to the highway, sharing the history of the surrounding area, how the lands are maintained by the families and community. The hike was moderate, but we followed the river and the oases and the waterfall along the paths were worth the trip. We ended the hike by having lunch nearby in Miraflores and it was delicious. The owner was very welcoming. If you are looking for something to do away from the crowds, Carlos is your guy. He is very accommodating and he lets you set the pace on what you want to do or see!
My husband and I were alone with our guide Carlos, and he met our desire for activity, adventure and nature. Our trail included about 2 miles of hiking in a riverbed with swim stops, hopping large rocks and navigating beautiful terrain. Carlos was courteous, knowledgable and friendly. I have been to cabo 10 times and this was my first time coming to this area. Would definitely do it again!
Carlos - you exceeded our expectations. Would give a rate higher than 5 if we could. Hot hike, beautiful landscape, refreshing waterfalls, amazing food. Perfect day.
Excellent communication from guide (Carlos) and Max. Seamless booking, reasonable price (maybe visit their website), and excellent service. Carlos customized his route per our interests and was amazing in working with our kids (middle school & high school aged). Hike to first falls was honestly quite easy but as we’ve done some hiking in Oregon, not unusual terrain. Your mileage may vary. And the stop in Mira Flores on the way back was choice.
Max was awesome. Very knowledgeable about everything we saw. He took great care of us taking us to the waterfall and lunch after. I would definitely recommend this trip. The hike was not too difficult but he could change it to more advanced and longer. Take time to go. It is awesome. I think we are going to have Max for surf lessons next time.
This was an amazing, memorable trip for my family of 6. Carlos was beyond knowledgeable and accommodating to my family. He not only made sure we were safe, but catered to any requests my boys had including teaching them how to asses the safety of adventures they seek. We hiked 4 miles, off trail to multiple pools and majestic views. Additionaly, he took us thru small towns to get an understanding of local culture and gave us ideas for other things to do. My 12 year old declared this the best day of his life. Can not recommend this more.
Max was amazing and took us to an area I’d Cabo tha we would have never seen before with nice natural pools for swimming and waterfalls. It was an amazing day topped off by a great lunch with the best lobster tacos. I would highly recommend this tour.
We were on this hike in mid-January and had a great time! Carlos was a fantastic guide and showed us a lot of the backcountry as well as the waterfall, and surrounding area. We swam in the plunge basin at the waterfall and almost had the place to ourselves. Carlos was very knowledgeable about the local flora and showed us many native plants. My wife had two knee-replacements and was nervous about the hike down to the waterfall, but the path is well marked and Carlos made sure she was steady at all times on the trail. The trail is mostly rocky steps and dirt path and can be steep. The hike was well worth the view that you get at the end and the experience of the waterfall and basin. We drove through the desert roads on the way to lunch and saw a small town. Lunch was at a restaurant in Miraflores and was delicious. I highly recommend the lobster tacos! All in all, this was a great way to see parts of Baja California Sur that we otherwise would not have seen. You might find other tour options that cost less but the guide may not be as attentive and knowledgeable about the area. We found this excursion was well worth what we paid and the day was one of the highlights of our trip. Thanks to Carlos and Max for the great adventure!
