We decided to book this trip instead of driving the Cabot Trail ourselves and it was a really good decision. We were safely chaperoned and feel we probably saw and understood more of the landscape with guides instead of driving aimlessly ourselves. Good value for money, a fantastic way to see teh place. Im a bit scared of heights (still recovering form last years trip to Rhonda!!!) so it was better being taken around by guides who know the area!
Well worth the cost. In spite of not great weather conditions, the trip was most enjoyable, many spots to stop for refreshments and photo opportunities. Our guide Frank, was great!
We originally had planned to drive the Cabot trail ourselves. I am so glad that we chose instead to go with Harry and the Cabot Trail Discovery tour! Harry took us to places we would otherwise not have known about. We learned a lot from him about the area. There was a coffee stop early in the tour and lunch at a restaurant where we sampled Nova Scotia fish cakes and beans...delicious! We were lucky to have had as good a weather day as possible which made for spectacular views! As we were staying in Baddeck Harry suggested we go to the Baddeck Gathering Ceilidh, which was great fun! He is an excellent guide full of knowledge and a great sense of humor. It was a very enjoyable day!!
What a great way to spend the day and learn about the area and its history!! I ended up being with two couples, so the group size was very nice. Frank was an amazing guide! Being a local he had many stories to tell and many insights to share. He seemed to have an endless wealth of knowledge. I don’t normally do this kind of tour, but I’m glad I did.
What a great day with Father "Believe It Or Not" Harry. Harry has a great personality and is well suited to be a Cabot Trail tour guide. The van was spotless (and new) and although we couldn't see all the sites because of the fog, it was still a great day.
We highly recommend Cabot Discovery Tours. The people who work there and with whom we had direct contact, Misty in the office and Harry the tour guide extraordinaire, were wonderful and you could tell they love their work and where they live. We were with 2 other people in a spotlessly clean van. Harry made many stops for us to take photos and share a story or two (I will always think of him when I see a cemetery or graveyard...be sure to ask if he's your guide). He has a great sense of humour and a genuine love and respect for the Trail and Cape Breton. Thank you for arranging for the mama bear and her 3 babies' appearance too! We had a very enjoyable day!
Harry was an excellent and entertaining tour guide. I enjoyed everything about the day I spent with him on the tour.
Wonderful day discovering the Cabot Trail and learning all about the Cape Breton history and stories. It was a great excursion to take off of the ship and I would highly recommend!
The CabotTrail Tour was everything we expected, including the sunny weather complete with fabulous skies and great cloud formations. We last did the trail 25 years ago in solid fog!! So we headed out with trepidation. It was a small group being end of season, only 3 other guests apart from the two of us. For me, Scottish born of Highland stock, but a longstanding Canadian, it was wonderful to see the examples of Scottish culture and tradition. But after 25 years we noticed how the Mi'kmaq had retaken their rightful place and the Acadians had returned, with a higher profile, so you got a much more visible sense of all the major cultures. Our driver, Frank MacLeod, was very good humoured and extremely well versed in the history and geography of the Trail and Cape Breton as a whole, so we learnt something new at every turn. The Tour is very enjoyable and a bargain, a very reasonable price, and with comfortable transportation. We would not hesitate to recommend it.
We enjoyed a wonderful experience on our tour with "Father Harry," as he is affectionally called, as our driver/guide. Harry is very personable, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable, and his warm hospitality made us all quickly feel like long-time friends. The tour was nicely paced with lots of stops for photos and breathtaking views. One of the highlights of our trip was seeing a large moose on the side of the road in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
