Chef Chang is a Good Chef

Chef Chang is a really good teacher. Before you go to his class, you should know how to cook. And if you are looking for Vegan options. !!Then, you need to let him know ahead of time!! Chef Chang taught me how to cook a lot of great food. 😁💯👍🏽

Thank you for participating in my cooking class. To help participants better understand a wider variety of Korean cuisine, I teach three dishes during the class. The first customers to make a reservation can choose their menu item. Once customers select the menu, I will provide customers with the recipes in English via messenger in advance. I recommend that customers read through them once or twice before joining the class. After the class, I provide containers and tote bags so that customers can take the food customers prepared home. Thank you once again for joining my vegan cooking class.

A cooking class, From start to finish

I really enjoyed my time in Suyang’s cooking class. Suyang was extremely friendly to my brother and I, when we met him and let us pick the dishes we wanted to create a few days before we met in person. He first started us in the market, gathering the ingredients needed for the three dishes me and my brother choose, and we spent about an hour looking for the best quality ingredients, making sure that all items were accounted for and ready to be cooked, and he always answered any questions my group had. On the way to the kitchen, he paid for our tickets to ride the train to the studio. While cooking, he was very understanding, and patient while me and my brother were cooking, taking the time needed to show and help us whenever we got stuck on a problem and was very chill with his cooking, nothing was complicated and he didn't just move over any problems my brother and I had.

Thank you very much for participating in my cooking class. We made the seafood pancakes, chicken and ginseng porridge, and enoki mushroom seaweed rolls that your group chose. Yesterday, strangely enough, it was difficult to find chives, so it seems we spent a longer time on the market tour. After the tour, I treated you to the hotteok (Korean sweet pancakes) you wanted to eat. I provided a cooking class for four hours, and since both you and your sibling followed my instructions well, the class proceeded smoothly. Thank you very much for dedicating your valuable time to my cooking class. I hope this class remains a pleasant moment in your life. Thank you.

Great cooking experience!

The tour through the market was great as it was a market for locals. We were able to learn about different foods and history. It is great to be able to also pick which menu items we were interested in making. And we each had our own cooking set so it was nice to do our individual cooking. We learned much about Korean food culture. Highly recommend and next time I would BYOB.

Thank you for participating in my cooking class. And thank you for following the rules that you should be careful about in the Bujeon Market when I offered you a market tour. I am always honored and happy to introduce various Korean dishes and Korean food culture to my customers.Thank you!!

We had a great time...

We had a great time touring the markets with Suyung who answered all our food questions and even showed us where we could get some specific types of foods that we wanted for ourselves. The cooking experience was great. We were able to go at our pace and Chef had explained everything well and was well prepped. We appreciated that the recipies are tailored to be simple and easy to make for regular meals that we can use in the future. The ingredients were fresh and the food tasted fantastic at the end. We had our leftovers packed and ready to take with us too!

Thank you for participating in my vegan cooking class. During the market tour, you expressed interest in purchasing dried jujube, red chili powder, and dried seaweed, so I assisted you in purchasing these three items separately. I strive to help customers make delicious food more easily in their home countries by providing simpler recipes. I understand that Korean ingredients are now readily available abroad, as many Korean grocery stores have recently opened. I hope to see you again in Busan next time. Thank you.

Excellent cooking tour with many stories of Korean culture!

Mr. Chang was delightful. After taking us through the fish and produce market we went back to a private cooking studio and he walked us through how to methodically make Gimbap and Cucumber kimchi. He spoke with very good English and he had many relevant stories about Korean culture related back to the food we were making. Would highly recommend!

Thank you for participating in my cooking class. It is always an honor and a rewarding experience to introduce Korean food culture to customers through my classes. It is also a great joy to see customers enjoy the food they prepared using the recipes I provided. Thank you once again for joining my cooking class.

Could be improved

We really had high hopes for this tour (we specifically selected the vegan tour), but for the cost which is exorbitant for 3 people when compared to the other tours we have done in Korea, this was a bit of a letdown. We did make 3 recipes which we are grateful to have attempted but they were quite basic. As a review of the experience, we met our guide at the train station, and he barely acknowledged us and walked towards the market. My husband had to ask him his name before he introduced himself. We just walked into the market with no information, told not to stop in front of vendors, and were not given much information about what we say. There was 0 "tour" energy here. We were also walked down an alley of the market that was only meat and aquariums, and I asked if there was a reason we were going down there as this was quite graphic (such as needing go through this alley to reach a vendor) and there was no reason. We were asked if we were 100% vegan which we are, and yet we were presented with fish-based kimchi for the kimchi pancakes which were advertised as vegan and which we had pre-selected. Importantly, the host is neither a chef nor a trained tour guide, which took us by surprise. A lot more information could have been provided on the significance of the meals we were preparing.

First, please check your WhatsApp messenger. Your messages will prove that your review is a lie. Regarding cases where I felt the information provided during class was insufficient in response to your questions, I provided detailed information via messenger after class. I also provided information about vegan restaurants and menus that you can enjoy in Busan. Bujeon Market is not a vegan market. Bujeon Market is a place where various food ingredients are sold, not just vegetables. You screamed or made hateful remarks every time you passed by areas where fish or meat were sold. Because I thought you were experiencing psychological discomfort, I walked past those areas quickly. You have no right to hate or disparage meat consumption under any circumstances. You need to reflect on why you continued to scream during the Bujeon Market tour. Also, Bujeon Market is a crowded market. Since four people standing in the aisle was causing inconvenience to others, I asked you to ask any questions you had during the cooking class. Furthermore, during the cooking class, you repeated the same questions multiple times, and your husband even reminded you to stop asking the same questions repeatedly. I provided a list of dozens of menu items for your group to choose from, and you selected three dishes. I also sent the recipes for these three dishes before the class. You chose pan-fried eggplant with rice paper, Mung bean pancakes, and braised lotus root. I sent the recipes in advance for you to review, so I cannot understand why you are complaining about the recipes. When we met at the subway station exit, I clearly showed my guide license, introduced myself, and notified your group of precautions to take within Bujeon Market. Lying that I am not a professional tour guide is a clear case of slander and a personal attack. I do not know why you chose a vegan diet, but you have no right to disparage meat consumption or other dietary practices. Moreover, behavior and remarks that appear to disregard other cultures cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. Shouting or making disparaging remarks in front of food that others enjoy reveals the true level of your character. You enjoyed the food you prepared and ate every last bit of the mung bean pancakes and fried eggplant. You took the leftover braised lotus root with you in the food container and bag I provided, and bowed repeatedly to express your gratitude. I am very perplexed by your double standards. I spent five hours providing a cooking class, offering various information, and answering your questions, yet you are disparaging my class with false stories that are completely different from the actual situation. It is a truly difficult situation to understand. I offered another cooking class to other guests from 5 p.m. after your class. They left a review as below. I provided you and them with the same service and information. I certainly provided the same service, so it is hard to understand why you left me an unacceptable review "We loved this class. Mr Chang was an amazing host, from pointing out Korean specialities in the market, delicious recipes and funny chat. We got to pick our menu in advance and had lots of leftovers to take home. A fantastic intro to Busan! Thank you "

Full Korean food experience!

Starting off with the Market Tour, which really put into perspective how Koreans live and eat. It was very helpful to receive the information and see and smell what is sold at a Korean Market. Then to cook’s (Suyang) kitchen to make 2 appetizers and one entree. Loved the fried tofu with vegetables, and the egg and noodle pancake. Not so much the Kimchi, just by the shear fact I am not a fan! All was great, but I do feel $280 for 2 people is a bit overpriced.

Thank you very much for participating in my cooking class. I informed you that many shops in the market would be closed on May 24th due to Buddha's Birthday, so I requested that you join on May 25th instead. The participation fee for the morning session on May 25th was USD 240 for two people. All participants in the cooking class are allowed to select three dishes of their choice. Today, you selected cucumber kimchi, glass noodle and egg pancakes, and tofu salad. I provided food containers and tote bags so that you could take home the dishes you made. I also provided the beverages you requested. You may feel that the participation fee is expensive, but please understand that considering the total time required—5 hours of participation plus 2 hours for cleanup—I have no choice but to charge a certain amount. Also, I would appreciate it if you could take into account my efforts in separately collecting and providing information on restaurants in Busan where you can enjoy vegetarian meals.

Fun Market Visit, Relaxed Pace, and Delicious Food

Suyang was a great host. We first went to the market to buy fresh ingredients and explore the different foods that are sold there. We then returned to his kitchen to cook, cucumber kimchi, fried tofu with vegetables, and egg & noodle pancakes. We loved the relaxed pacing of the class and really enjoyed cooking these Korean dishes.

Thank you for participating in my cooking class. Today, I provided a cooking class for a total of two people: you and your friend. I offer cooking classes for groups of two or more, and I can accommodate up to eight people. Today, your group chose and prepared cucumber kimchi, grilled tofu with vegetable salad, and glass noodle egg pancakes. You finished the glass noodle egg pancakes immediately after making them, and took the tofu salad and cucumber kimchi home after the class. I provided food containers and tote bags so you could take any leftovers home. I am allocating more time to communicate and exchange information so that my clients can gain a deeper understanding of Korean food and culture. I also provided information on vegan menus and vegan restaurants that you can enjoy in Busan.

I highly recommend this activity with Uncle Busan!

If you want an authentic and great food experience, I recommend this activity 😊 Our guide told us to call him “Uncle Busan,” which I thought was really cute. During the market tour he explained Korean food culture, and since my companion and I are vegan, he pointed us to vegan foods and warned us about dishes that looked vegan but weren’t. The market is bustling, so he told us to take photos of anything we wanted to ask about and later answered every last question. After the tour we took the subway to the cooking place. Uncle Busan showed us how to prepare the ingredients and then we cooked one meal at a time out of the three dishes we picked beforehand. After every meal we took a break to enjoy it before continuing to the next one, which made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. All three meals were delicious… or “mashisoyo” as Uncle Busan taught us hahaha 😄 At the end he gave us containers for leftovers and a nice welcome gift bag. I definitely recommend this experience!

Thank you for participating in my cooking class. I am aware that many vegetarians face considerable difficulty finding suitable food and restaurants while traveling in Busan. I provide various information to help all participants reduce the difficulties they experience due to dietary restrictions while traveling in Busan. Additionally, I prepare a sufficient amount of ingredients and provide food containers so that customers can enjoy the dishes they made one or two additional times after the class.
