La tradizione del teatro delle marionette sull'acqua deriva da un'epoca in cui le risaie erano allagate e gli abitanti del villaggio si divertivano stando nell'acqua fino alla cintola con i burattini che si esibivano sull'acqua. Usando grandi aste per sostenere i pupazzi sembrava come se si stessero muovendo attraverso l'acqua con i burattinai nascosti dietro uno schermo. Questa tradizione è unica nel Vietnam del Nord ma ha recentemente trovato fama sui palcoscenici di tutto il mondo; quindi è un piacere raro vedere i pupazzi esibirsi nella loro posizione originale al Dragon Water Puppet Theatre. Le esibizioni sono accompagnate da un'orchestra vietnamita che suona musica tradizionale utilizzando tamburi, campane di legno, corni, flauti di bambù e cembali. Ci sono anche autentiche canzoni operistiche vietnamite che raccontano la storia che viene recitata dai burattini. La maggior parte degli spettacoli racconta storie e leggende popolari vietnamite con argomenti tra cui la celebrazione della raccolta del riso rappresentata in modo umoristico.

The show was great. Tickets only purchased by rep at 6:10 putting us near back. Buy yourself on the day.

Sadly, english is my only language so I had to figure out what the story was. It was fun to watch and looking up how it was done was cool!

Great communication from the trip operator and the lady who dropped off the tickets for us . Unfortunately we were in the second row from the back of the theatre (of at least 20 rows) which made viewing difficult . I would check where the seats are before booking as we were disappointed. Having said that the production was excellent .

This is a great show especially if you're a history buff . Very traditional and great place for a Date or even with a family. The neighborhood is lively
