Nessuna visita a Dubrovnik sarebbe completa senza una passeggiata sull'attrazione principale della città: le sue spettacolari mura. Costruite nel X secolo, queste enormi mura, con 6 m di altezza e di spessore, hanno fornito alla città una solida difesa contro gli invasori. Con quasi 2 km di lunghezza, le mura della città sono il luogo perfetto per una passeggiata tranquilla e offrono un'incantevole vista sulla città vecchia e sullo scintillante mare Adriatico. Tra i punti di interesse che comprende possiamo citare due torri, la torre di Minčeta e la torre di Bokar, insieme a due fortezze, quella di San Lorenzo e quella di Revelin. Ci sono tre punti di accesso alle mura: uno vicino al Monastero domenicano, uno vicino al museo marittimo alla fortezza di San Giovanni e uno presso la Porta di Pile.

Le mura di Dubrovnik (in croato: Dubrovačke gradske zidine) sono una serie di mura difensive in pietra che circondano la città di Dubrovnik nel sud della Croazia
In origine una resistente fortezza a quattro lati, questa costituisce il punto più importante nel sistema difensivo verso terra.
La Fortezza di Bokar è considerata una delle architetture più armoniose e funzionali.
La fortezza di San Giovanni (in croato: Sveti Ivan) è un monumentale edificio situato sul lato sud-orientale del porto vecchio della città, a controllarne e proteggerne l'ingresso.
La Fortezza di Lovrijenac, o di San Lorenzo, è sia una fortezza che un teatro, e si trova all'esterno delle mura occidentali della città di Dubrovnik in Croazia, a 37 m sopra il livello del mare.

The voucher that was emailed to me did not work at the entrance and I was not emailed the tickets. I had to call Viator to find out that the entrance gate only accepts paper tickets- which I am unable to get from my B&B in Dubrovnik. I had to go to the tourist office and have them print out the tickets. Which took time and was a frustrating experience. As this was non-refundable, it caused alot of stress. I now understand why it was non-refundable- because you can buy tickets at the venue for 40 euros per person.
We went early to avoid crowds in the heat. The views we’re fantastic of the Adriatic and the old town.
If you visit Dubrovnik and you can handle the steps you have to take a walk on the city wall. It gives you great views to sea and unique views of the city and other near by buildings.
It may be a beautiful walk, but the cost of 40 euros per person is excessive. This wonderful city has now become a tourist trap.
If you’re a GOT fan, you definitely want to do this walk. Walking the city walls is a great way to take beautiful pictures and sight see while getting your steps in! Be ready for climbing stairs - there’s plenty of them. If you plan on walking the entire perimeter, it will take about 2-3 hours depending on how many stops you take for pics and take water with you! The month of May is a great time to go with less crowds and great weather. Lastly, do not throw away your tickets as there is a checkpoint midway through the walk.
This did not work. We needed to buy admission tickets to the city walls once we arrived. We used Tripadvisor for several other tours that worked well. By the way, this was supposed to be admission and self-guide only, not a guided tour. Hopefully will get a refund when I return home. The city walls walk was worth while.
Dubrovnik is a total tourist trap - and also a must see. The walls really are spectacular (even though they cost 40E). Can get crowded (and hot) so go early or late.
I had booked a guided tour with Viator for the city walls but it did not include the entrance fee, which I also booked through Viator. Viator only email me a voucher but not a QR code that is needed to gain entry. They were so unhelpful during the process and we ended up buying another set of tickets as we didn’t want to miss our tour. We kept going back and forth with the online customers service which was crap so we email our complaints. Less than a day later they refused us a refund and won’t give us a reason why. I won’t be booking another thing with them as they are not helpful if anything goes wrong. Be careful when dealing with this company Stop trying to put us off and deal with your customers properly
This sounds scary when 1000 steps are mentioned - but fear not - they come in smaller sessions :) The view from above is magic and for those taking it easy there are food/drink stations along the way.
Amazing views of ancient and present Dubrovnik! Definitely do it! Just make sure to go first thing in morning, before heat and crowds!
