La Casa Natal o luogo di nascita dell'artista di fama mondiale Pablo Ruiz Picasso è stato un sito ufficiale del patrimonio dal 1983. Si trova nel cuore del centro storico di Malaga, circondato da monumenti dal passato ricco di Malaga come il Teatro Romano, il Castello di Gibralfaro con la sua vista mozzafiato sulla città e l'Alcazaba. Questa location è stata riaperta ufficialmente dal Re e dalla Regina di Spagna ed è un importante centro di ricerca sulla vita di questo geniale artista.

Nel 1881, al numero 15 di Plaza de la Merced, nacque Pablo Picasso, l'artista più importante del XX secolo. Dichiarato Monumento Artistico-Storico di Interesse Nazionale nel 1983. La Casa Natale e Museo occupa oggi l'intero edificio. Dal 2005 esiste anche un'altra sala espositiva al n. 13 di questa stessa piazza. Nel corso della sua esistenza, il Museo della Casa Natale di Picasso ha raccolto una collezione di opere d'arte comprendente oltre quattromila pezzi di oltre 200 artisti diversi. Tra questi figurano i quaderni di schizzi di Picasso in preparazione a "Las señoritas de Aviñón", gli unici quaderni di schizzi di questo tipo contenuti in una collezione spagnola, risalenti al 1907. Le sue sale espositive contengono vari oggetti originali, souvenir di famiglia e pezzi realizzati dall'artista che documentano i legami familiari, sociali e culturali di Pablo Picasso con Málaga. La casa natale di Pablo Ruiz Picasso ospita anche una biblioteca specializzata e offre un programma continuo di mostre temporanee e attività culturali.

"Visiting the Picasso Birthplace Museum was exciting: entering the house where Picasso was born allows for a better understanding of his origins and his connection to Málaga." The museum is well organized, rich in works, photographs, and personal items that tell the artist's life in an engaging way. Suggestive atmosphere, kind staff, and a perfect location in the heart of the city. Highly recommended for art and culture lovers!
Very convenient location/ Must for Picasso fans/ reasonable price/ allow about two hours. Lots of nearby places to eat
Picasso spent only the first 10 years of his life here, so the house is of little significance both for its furnishings and for his life lived. Inside there is only a sitting area and a desk, while everything else is described on fixed panels or on-screen photos. Visit not fundamental.
Not a very impressive collection of Picasso’s work and almost entirely sketches/etchings. Very bland.
Picasso's birthplace is NOT impressive. We have seen the house in 20 minutes, with the addition that we are not art lovers, so it was also not really spent on us. The museum is spacious and there are some personal items. Furthermore, it is mainly about his family and the development of Picasso as an artist. The museum itself is nicely set up and all the texts are also in English, but we didn't think it was that special.
Educational and wonderful to have that experience too. It was very interesting to learn about Picasso's history. To see a collection of Picasso's first had early drawings.
In the downtown of Malaga and near of the cathedral we had the opportunity to visited the childhood and Picasso’s parents house. This historic building was buy for the county to celebrated the centennial of Picasso’s anniversary.
DO NOT BUY THIS - YOU STILL HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE AND CAN BUY THE TICKETS AT THE FRONT DESK. We bought the tickets in advance so that we don‘t have to wait since the the description explicitly states „Skip the line“. We arrived there and were told by the staff that we have to wait in line like everyone else. So we had to wait in line for 45 minutes in the rain…. We were totally disappointed by the false claims made in the description.
Great tour to learn about Picasso and how he influenced others and continues to do so. Not crowded and the administrators were very helpful in pointing out the significance of the displays.
It’s nice to see the childhood home of Pablo Picasso! And the influences he had to be the great artist that he is!
