Bentota River Safari

Beautiful Bentota River safari experience! 🌿🛶 We had a wonderful boat ride through the mangroves and enjoyed the peaceful natural surroundings. The views were amazing, and it was a great opportunity to experience Sri Lanka’s unique wildlife and ecosystem. A relaxing and memorable experience that I would highly recommend!

Had a fabulous morning fishing, the captain and his mate Gayan and Samira were lovely and very patient with me as I am a novice, they pointed out interesting animals and places on the way, we all caught fish even me, highly recommend this trip

With an Isa, the tour is interesting, comfortable, safe! Definitely recommended! The guide is punctual.

Being a guide in South Africa, I had high expectations on this safari, well well... From start to finish our guide Gimhana was amazing, didn't follow the vehicles to just show us what was in the park, created an experience on our expectations. He was attentive, informative and catered far beyond what we expected to see. This is something you have to do. Book this experience and you cannot go wrong! Read this review and book immediately! Excellent 2 hour trip. Lots of wildlife including crocodiles, water monitors, snakes, monkeys, birds and more. Pick up from the hotel included.

We loved these guys and experienced two great fishing trips during our stay in Bentota. Super friendly and accommodating for our kids. Hotel pick up and drinks included! We did an early morning trip and an evening one too. Highly recommend! Beautiful experience being on the river at those times of day and seeing all the flora and fauna. Thank you Gayan and team 🤩

The only reason a 4 star was given was because after our hotel is listed on the scroll down menu as a pick up location however after booking I was emailed saying that I would have to make my own way there. The tour was great, our guide was very knowledgeable, he spotted and told us lots of information about the wildlife we saw. We saw small crocodiles, water monitors, monkeys, bats and a variety of birds. We did not see any large crocodiles however I think that was because we only wanted to spend 1.5 hours on the river and our guide said they were on the other side but we wanted to leave, regardless we had a lovely time and saw several small crocodiles and held one too. The river is beautiful and the boat ride was so relaxing, I would definitely recommend going.

Great day out on Benton’s river I could not have asked for two better guides, we seen monkeys crocodiles, water lizards, fruit bats, eagles. The guy really knew how to handle the boat to manoeuvre into places and spot wild life that we would not have noticed. We also took in a bit of fishing where we caught travelie, cat fish and a pufferfish all going to make a fantastic trip thanks to the captain and his top class guide

The tour started at 10 a.m. with a punctual pick-up at the hotel. The guide was super friendly and explained everything great. The boat was perfect in size and we saw a lot of animals including monkeys, crocodiles and dragonflies. Also served a pineapple and a king coconut, which were super delicious. The trip is definitely highly recommended:)

I will start with the beginning, we were accommodated in Negombo (1h45min from Bentota river). The driver was very punctual, very good conditions in the car. The Safari was extremely nice, we saw water monitors, crocodiles, monkeys in the trees along the river, all kind of birds, bats, etc. Very good and well prepared guide (unfortunately, I don't know his name). Then, a short visit to a Buddhist temple and a very, very nice visit to a turtle hatchery.
