Durante il mio soggiorno a Bath ho studiato la storia di Bath, i suoi architetti e residenti che hanno reso questa città patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO un gioiello storico. L’eredità della scrittura e della lettura dei suoi romanzi da parte di Jane Austen mi ha ispirato ad acquisire ampie conoscenze sul suo tempo prima e mentre viveva a Bath e dopo aver lasciato Bath, nonché sul significato che Bath aveva sulla sua scrittura. Le recensioni dei tour sottolineano il mio approccio unico che si occupa di soddisfare le esigenze, le aspettative e gli apprezzamenti individuali personali o di gruppo.

Qui è dove ci incontriamo. Il Ponte Pulteney è una replica del Ponte Veccio di Firenze con negozi allineati su entrambi i lati ed è stato progettato nel 1769. Proseguiamo lungo Argyle Street e ci fermiamo a guardare Laura Place e Great Pulteney Street. Questa sosta dura circa 15 minuti durante i quali viene spiegata la magnifica architettura della residenza cittadina Great Pulteney Street e i suoi famosi residenti nel XVIII e XIX secolo. Il Museo d'Arte Holburne è visibile da questa fermata. Una passeggiata lungo Pulteney Street verso l'Holburn Museum può essere intrapresa e allo stesso tempo visualizzare la parte anteriore del n. 4 Sydney Place dove una targa commemora Jane Austens prima dimora a Bath (nessun ingresso, museo o centro).

Una grande cattedrale medievale fu iniziata all'inizio del XII secolo e nel 1499 il vescovo Oliver King iniziò il restauro . Il completamento avvenne sotto Elisabetta I nel 1611 . L'abbazia è famosa per i suoi monumenti e le targhe murali e per l'incoronazione del primo tipo d'Inghilterra, Edgar I nel 977. I dettagli saranno esplorati e spiegati e gli ospiti potranno visitarne gli interni.
Questo è l'unico posto in Gran Bretagna dove puoi nuotare nell'acqua termale naturale, coronata da una piscina sul tetto con 35 gradi Celsius e aperta estate e inverno. Verranno spiegate la sorgente di Hetling, la sorgente della croce e la sorgente del re e le loro origini che risalgono a 10.000 anni fa.
Oltre alle realizzazioni architettoniche uniche della piazza, gli ospiti potranno conoscere i dettagli della breve residenza di Jane Austen al n. 13 nel 1799
Il capolavoro degli architetti John Wood, ispirato dal loro interesse per i circoli di pietre preistoriche e progettato per emulare il Colosseo a Roma. Gli ospiti impareranno ed esploreranno di più sull'unicità di questo sito iconico. I lavori iniziarono nel 1754.
Sale pubbliche e da ballo di grande design dove socializzavano le persone alla moda del periodo Regency. Le sale da ballo, l'ottagono, la sala da gioco e la sala da tè ospitano ancora molti eventi.
Il principale punto di riferimento di Bath risalente al I secolo d.C., con l'imponente tempio romano di Sulis Minerva e le piscine. Si consiglia di indovinare prenotare i tour audio per il bagno romano separatamente prima o dopo il tour. Adiacente ai bagni c'è un simbolo dell'età d'oro della città nel periodo georgiano - la Pump Room - dove l'élite consapevole e alla moda si riuniva per balli, tè e per "prendere le acque". Fu qui che Catherine e Isabelle si incontrarono spesso nel romanzo di Jane Austen "L'abbazia di Northanger"

Guide very knowledgeable, fair amount of walking lots to see ,well organized, a little fast pace overall excellent
The tour was interesting with facts about Jane Austen mixed with other historical information. He drew comparisons about different people compared to Jane. He was interesting guide. However, when I stopped to go to the toilet , he had disappeared. I waited for him for almost 15 minutes. I gave up and walked on doing my own thing the rest of the afternoon. I only got a 90 minutes of tour.
Hi Katrina Thank you for your review. Regretful misunderstanding in that I waited for 30 min where we parted when you went to the rest room namely by the painting of Saunders showing the ballroom ….but you didn’t show up so I thought you had to rush off for some reason . Kindest, Ulrich
This was the highlight of my entire Bath stay! If you don’t have a lot of time, skip the Jane Austen Centre which was really low in terms of content and disappointing and go on this walk with Ulrich. He was so kind and well informed. Was an absolute gem of a guide! He will take you around to where Austen used to live and all the other precious sights around Bath. Really loved my time w Ulrich and highly recommend him to anyone and everyone interested in history and Austen.

This tour was great value. Our guide was knowledgeable and took us all over the town but we were not rushed. My teenagers didn’t appreciate it as much as my husband and I did. Wear good walking shoes!
Ulrich’s Jane Austen tour was utterly magical! He was so knowledgeable and transported us back in time to understand what Bath was like in across millennia - from pre-Roman times, through to the 1800s . He shared fascinating facts, was patient, kind and answered our every question with unparalleled knowledge. I appreciated that the tour was a good mixture of Bath history and Austen history. There’s lots of great guides in Bath but Ulrich wasn’t one of them. No passion for subject and very little information on Jane Austen!
My other guests on the same tour wondered as to why you booked my tour at all and I agree since you were not very interested in listening and more interested for me to find a phone shop for you to buy a charging cable! You are however invited to rejoin the tour at another time once you decide to arrive with an open mindset and then you would also not miss out on the most important part of the tour which you could not experience since you both left without a word having only participated for less than 1/3 of the tour and we were all wondering where all of a sudden you have disappeared to!
