Nel 1782, il re Rama I trasferì la capitale da Thonburi attraverso il fiume a Bangkok e costruì il Grand Palace adiacente a Wat Pho. Nel 1788, ordinò la costruzione e il rinnovamento nel vecchio sito del tempio di Wat Pho, che era diventato ormai fatiscente. Il sito, che era paludoso e irregolare, fu drenato e riempito prima dell'inizio della costruzione. Durante la sua costruzione Rama ho anche avviato un progetto per rimuovere le immagini del Buddha dai templi abbandonati di Ayutthaya, Sukhothai e altri siti della Thailandia, e molte di queste immagini del Buddha sono state conservate a Wat Pho, tra cui i resti di un'enorme immagine del Buddha Il Wat Phra Si Sanphet di Ayuthaya distrutto dai birmani nel 1767, e questi furono incorporati in un chedi nel complesso. La ricostruzione impiegò oltre sette anni per essere completata. Nel 1801, dodici anni dopo l'inizio dei lavori, il nuovo complesso del tempio fu ribattezzato Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklavas.
Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan è un tempio buddista (wat) nel distretto di Bangkok Yai di Bangkok, in Thailandia, sulla riva occidentale di Thonburi del fiume Chao Phraya. Il tempio prende il nome dal dio indù Aruna, spesso personificato come radiazioni del sole nascente. Wat Arun è tra i più noti punti di riferimento della Thailandia. La prima luce del mattino si riflette sulla superficie del tempio con iridescenza perlacea. Sebbene il tempio esistesse almeno dal diciassettesimo secolo, i suoi prang distintivi (guglie) furono costruiti all'inizio del diciannovesimo secolo durante il regno di re Rama II.

Everything was excellent. Our guide, Mina is great
This was a great way to explore the temples. Our guide (Sunny) was really good and kept things moving at a good pace. Our tour included a tuk tuk ride and boat ride together with walking. Just to note that this is a reasonably long tour (5 ish hours) and does not include a food stop). Having said that, a number of people, that had not read the information sent, did request a stop for lunch and our guide accommodated this (with the buy in of all participants) and took us to a local eatery where the food was very good and very inexpensive. We particularly liked Wat Pho (the reclining Buddha). Our guide was also very good at making sure everyone was able to get back to their hotels. Just to note, this tour does not end where it starts but the end location is right at a taxi station, tuk tuk station and the underground/metro. We would highly recommend this tour.

It was just the two of us on a personal tour. I was also very familiar with Japanese history and it was easy to understand the explanation while comparing with Thailand
