Calakmul è un luogo remoto: ecco perché è straordinario ed ecco perché risolverlo da soli è complicato. Dimenticatevi di noleggiare un'auto, di cercare una guida o del lungo viaggio di ritorno. Visita il sito Patrimonio dell'Umanità di Calakmul, un'antica città maya immersa nella giungla protetta, con una guida professionista; ci occupiamo noi del trasporto e della logistica. Tre opzioni chiare, senza clausole nascoste: solo zona archeologica; rovine + escursione nella giungla; oppure rovine + escursione + grotta dei pipistrelli (oltre 3 milioni di pipistrelli al tramonto). Ritiro a Bacalar, Xpujil, Chetumal e Xul-Ha; consegna in un'altra località senza costi aggiuntivi. Prezzo incentrato sull'essenziale: trasporto, guida e attività, senza extra. I biglietti si pagano separatamente in loco; ve lo comunichiamo prima della prenotazione, senza costi nascosti. È una giornata lunga; con la visita alla Bat Cave si prolunga fino al tramonto. Itinerario
Iniziamo il ritiro e poi ci dirigiamo verso la Riserva di Calakmul, il viaggio dura 3 ore. Una volta nella riserva faremo un viaggio panoramico attraverso la bassa giungla tropicale per circa un'ora e mezza e ci fermeremo solo brevemente in caso di avvistamenti di animali selvatici. Dopo aver attraversato la giungla esploreremo la zona archeologica di Calakmul, patrimonio misto dell'umanità secondo l'UNESCO. Esploriamo le aree aperte ai visitatori, come il centro civico e cerimoniale, le strutture più alte di oltre 50 metri di altezza, l'osservatorio solare degli equinozi e dei solstizi, tra gli altri molteplici usi. Molti degli edifici possono essere scalati, quindi è ancora possibile vedere il panorama che prima potevano vedere solo i re e i più potenti della città. Durante la passeggiata sarai accompagnato da una guida che condividerà informazioni relative a questo parco di fama mondiale che un tempo era l'insediamento Maya più temuto e glorificato.

The stop at the convenience store at the beginning is to buy breakfast and food. Even though the tour provides water and fruit, you might crave something more. There is no stop to eat and the activity does last 12 hours. Armando the tour guide and Argus the driver are excellent people and their service is super good. They give you time to do everything, very attentive to any wildlife sightings.

If you were to visit only one Mayan archaeological site, I think the excursion to Calakmul is the most impressive because the site is completely lost in the middle of the jungle and really gives a sense of adventure. Especially since the excursion is only done in small groups (my partner and I were alone with the guide and the driver) Besides the ruins, the forest tour allowed us to spot a small toucan, spider monkeys, two turkeys, a huge black pheasant, coatis, numerous birds, and some remarkable trees. Regarding the company ABC Tours, Gerardo, the guide, knows his subject perfectly well, both on the historical and archaeological level and during the walk in the forest. Finally, Checo is an excellent driver, which deserves to be highlighted because that is not always the case in tours organized in the region.

Excellent guided tour from start to finish. Taxi arrived promptly and a lovely driver (Spanish speaker) Argeo, drove for an hour to pick up our guide for the day (English Speaker) Armando. Learned loads about the jungle plants and animals, the Mayans and the ruins at the archeological site. Thank you, both.

This was a great day exploring Calakmul and the biosphere reserve. Our driver Argeo and guide Armando made us feel very welcome and made sure we were comfortable and had enough food and water for the day. Armando is a very knowledgeable and a patient tour guide. Climbing up the 3 pyramids was also an amazing experience experience. The drive there didn’t seem that long because we stopped to get food and then did the nature walk, but by the time we got to the archeological site, it was already quite hot. I would personally like to get to Calakmul earlier in the day, but I understand the nature walk had to be done in the morning. Overall a fantastic experience!!

Thank you very much to our guide Armando and our driver Argeo for their kindness and explanations throughout the day! The excursion was maintained even if we were only 2 participants, which we enjoyed! Just maybe a little downside on the surprise increase in entrance tickets since booking. For the various complementary tickets, there is a charge of 525 pesos MXN per person. (End of January 2026) Snacks to plan in advance for the day, there is not much choice on the road.

The tour was great! The guide really knew the history of Calakmul and was able to answer any questions. It was a long drive from Bacalar, but totally worth it to see this extraordinary phenomenon! During our walk we also saw howling monkeys and heard them howl, it was incredible! Make sure to bring repellent, because the mosquitos are insane, but the walk is for about 40 minutes, so it’s not that bad, just be prepared. We had a great time and really enjoyed it. It’s a full day so be prepared for a long one. Would 10/10 recommend!
