Great experience and best way to learn about the city! Meeting at the visitor center was very easy to figure out and the tour guides were awesome! It is a great value as you pay for one day but get to use your ticket twice. There were 6 adults in our party and we all loved it!
This is not a true hop on hop off. It advertises that you can. When we did that the driver Dean was not happy that I did not have a sticker on my shirt and watched me stand in the rain and didn't want to open the doors to the trolley. When he finally did and I told him we had tickets he seemed upset that I didn't have a sticker on my shirt from the welcome center. He was so rude. There is zero direction in how this hop on and off works. Basically you have to drive to the welcome center, get a sticker on your shirt and then you can hop on or off. I have traveled to many cities and really enjoy the tours around the city. This was definitely not one of those, the tour guide Dean was rude, obnoxious and really liked to talk about himself and his success. And if you talked during his tour, he basically stopped the trolley and called you out. This was the worst tour I've ever been on and he was the worst tour guide I've ever had. Waste of $90.00. Never again.

Would recommend! was a rainy day so perfect thing to do! Stops at very popular places! wish we had hopped off more but hopped off at Grove Park and had lunch. We got on at a stop 🛑 and after a few stops we were taken to the visitor center and this is where u show your tickets and we swapped tour guides! The tic process was odd. Walt was very curt and tense. No patience and wasn’t able to locate my cousins tic info from the tics on her phone. He did figure it out pretty quickly but he and the other man were so intense! Then the “other” man was our new guide. i thought oh no bc the first guy was good But HE ended up being great. uncle Ted is probably the guide everyone wants. He was entertaining funny informative and a great story teller.
We had a fabulous time, our driver was entertaining and knowledgeable. We didn’t get off because we wanted to stay on his route for the entire trip. And they recommended a wonderful cafe just a couple blocks down the street from the visitor’s center called All Day Darling, it was fabulous, very busy but the line went fast and tables opened up quickly! Great experience!
We were in Asheville for an extended weekend with a family reunion. Some of us arrived early and did the Hop on Hop Off on Thursday. We were very lucky because rain had been forecast, but we did not see it on our ride. Because the ticket includes a second day we decided to just stay on the trolley and get an idea of the area. Conveniently, the trolley picked up right outside our hotel. Our first conductor was a woman who was a local and added a lot of information about her family. We did have to get off at the tourist center to get our stickers. Because of this we did get on a different trolley with a different conductor. He was great. So much history and information with humor. My favorite part was the Jeopardy questions. Other than that stop, we did not get off. Mistake The second day we weren't so lucky and it was raining. And most of the family was on the trolley. 12 people. Because of the rain the plastic sides were down and it was difficult to see. Not complaining. Just stating facts. Because some of our group didn't have stickers yet, once again we had to get off at the center. At this point it was pouring rain. On to another trolley. Both of these conductors were very good and had a different spin on the histories of Asheville. I apologize for not having names. Everybody enjoyed the history and some of the trivia they shared. Some of these tidbits came up as we walked around Asheville 😣 We got off at Grove Park hotel. Sadly most of the beautiful views were foggy. So one lesson for you is that you're going to go two days, if the first day is clear get out at the Grove Park hotel. The hotel is impressive. Beautiful stone work and a very interesting history. But it's all about the view and the cocktails! The full tour is about an hour and a half. We gave it five stars both days even with the rain.
This 90 minute tour gives you a great overview of the city. Michael, our driver, was very entertaining had was very knowledgeable about the city and it history. You have opportunities to get off and visit parts of the city and get another bus every 30 minutes.
As usual, when I get to a new city, I love to book the hop -on tours. This was an interesting tour to get a feel of the history of the town. If I had time, I would ride it again with a different driver to get an additional perspective. I always learn a lot.
Lola - Thanks so much for letting people know our tour was an interesting history tour and introduction to Asheville. We're glad you came!
Great interpretation of city. Ability to hop on/off allowed us to explore. Driver dropped us off right at our hotel.
Sheldon, Thanks for letting us and others know you thought our tour was a great interpretation of Asheville, and a great way to explore the area. We're glad our driver was able to get you directly to your hotel. We aim to please!
We visited Asheville from Texas. We did the Hop-On Hop-Off Trolley Tour on Sat., April 11, 2026. Our guides were Walt and Matt. We really enjoyed it, and learned so much. It's very interesting. We wouldn't have learned so much about the area any other way. We started the tour at the Asheville Visitor Center. We recommend it!
Sharon, Thanks so much for recommending our tour. We'll let Matt and Walt know you enjoyed their tours.
Our driver and tour guide was Matt. He was very knowledgeable. Gave a lot of intricate detail about the history of Asheville and he was funny as well, which is a big bonus. Finally that he was able to maneuver that Trolly into some tight settings with Ease We highly recommend this Tour
Sherpa- Thanks so much for sharing your experience --saying it was "the perfect tour." We're so glad you feel that way. Thanks for recommending us to others. We agree with you about Matt. He does a great job!
