Il Canale di Corinto è una stretta via d'acqua artificiale della Grecia che collega il Golfo di Corinto con il Golfo Saronico nel Mar Egeo. Completato nel 1893, taglia l'istmo di Corinto e separa il Peloponneso dalla Grecia continentale. Il canale è lungo circa 6,4 chilometri e largo solo 21 metri alla sua base, rendendolo troppo stretto per le moderne grandi navi. Nonostante ciò, rimane un importante sito storico e turistico, offrendo una vista mozzafiato su ripide pareti rocciose e fungendo da simbolo dell'ambizione ingegneristica in tempi antichi e moderni. Faremo una sosta di 30 minuti per goderti la vista mozzafiato e scattare foto dal ponte sul Canale di Corinto.
L'antica Diolkos di Corinto era un tracciato lastricato che permetteva alle navi di essere trasportate via terra attraverso l'istmo di Corinto. Costruito nel VI secolo a.C., collegava il Golfo Saronico al Golfo di Corinto, consentendo un passaggio più rapido e sicuro tra il Mar Egeo e il Mar Ionio. I Diolkos funzionavano come una sorta di "ferrovia" di pietra, utilizzando piattaforme a ruote per spostare le navi. Fu una notevole impresa di ingegneria antica e svolse un ruolo chiave nel commercio e nella strategia militare nell'antichità. Oggi, i suoi resti evidenziano l'ingegno delle antiche infrastrutture greche. Faremo una breve sosta qui per circa 30 minuti, dandovi l'opportunità di visitare la sezione dell'antica Diolkos a Corinto, così come l'unico ponte sommerso all'ingresso del canale di Corinto.

Acrocorinto è l'imponente acropoli dell'antica Corinto, situata su una collina ripida e rocciosa che si erge a 575 metri sul livello del mare. È stato continuamente fortificato dall'antichità fino al periodo medievale grazie alla sua posizione strategica e alla vista panoramica sulla regione circostante. La fortezza servì come potente centro militare e amministrativo per greci, romani, bizantini, franchi, veneziani e ottomani. I visitatori possono esplorare rovine di antichi templi, fontane, mura difensive e una moschea. Sulla cima, i resti del Tempio di Afrodite evidenziano il significato religioso del sito nell'antichità. Acrocorinto offre non solo un viaggio attraverso secoli di storia, ma anche viste mozzafiato sul Golfo di Corinto, sul Peloponneso e sull'istmo di Corinto. Vi aspetteremo qui per un'ora, in modo da avere il tempo di visitare il castello di Acrocorinto.

The driver was very kind and helpful. He was consistent at the time of receipt when I needed him. The car is excellent and clean. I highly recommend him. If I find myself in Corinth again I will surely call him again to transport me where I need to.
Fantastic tour of lovely Korinthos! Kostas was the epitome of the wonderful Greek hospitality. His knowledge of Korinthos history was impressive and is proficient in English. My wife and I felt comfortable and safe. Highly recommended!
We were collected on time from our accommodation in Vrachati and taken to Ancient Corinth and also Acrocorinth. The car was very clean and comfortable and our driver was very kind and helpful. The booking and paying process was very easy. Would definitely recommend this company.
The sites on the tour are very interesting and well worth the visit. My driver and guide Alexis was very friendly and helpful as I was having to use a walker due to a recent knee injury. For me the best part of the tour was the Temple of Apollo along with the excavation site of Ancient Korinth and the museum they have put together of the artifacts found. We got lucky when we went to visit the Korinth Canal as there was a boat going through and there were bungee jumpers on the platform. The water in the canal is a beautiful turquoise color…it was a great day and made all the better with Alexis leading the way for me.
Contacted by phone, we were able to get two taxis for 7 people within 5 minutes. Friendly driver, who showed us ancient Corinth and the Corinth Canal.
This was an excellent way to see the highlights of Corinth. Our guide took time to show us many areas, and to get out and take pictures. Both ends of the Corinth channel are amazing. The castle on the hill, and the ancient ruins of Corinth were amazing. I recommend this for someone who only has part of a day to see the area.
We decided on a personal taxi tour of Corinth to give us the flexibility around the various sites. Our driver was excellent, spoke good English and gave us the base information we needed at each location. Added bonus on the way back to the train station was a small detour to the place where the Greeks/Romans used to drag their ships across the Isthmus
We were picked up by a friendly taxi driver on time at the campsite. The vehicle large with plenty of space. The driver took us to all the sights and gave us some tips. Overall highly recommended, we booked right back for Athens.
Friendly and reliable car service. Alex was there at train station waiting on my sister and myself with a beautiful and very comfortable, and spotlessly clean car. He was so kind and engaged in conversation that related to the area and the sites of Corinth we came to see. He waited patiently while we took our time at each of the sites, as well as while we ate in the village next to ancient Corinth. At the base of the Acrocorinth fortress by the parking lot, Alex directed us to a lovely cafe where we could grab a water, restroom break and we could have eaten there if we had been hungry. Thankful to Alex for showing us around.
