This experience was nothing short of magical and a real highlight of our Alaska trip! The helicopter ride was breathtaking, and the dogs were so excited to do laps around the glacier with us on the sled. We learned so much about dogsledding, the individual dogs, and why there's even a glacier summer training camp to begin with. Excellent experience and definitely worth it!
Extremely disappointing overall. For an event that was supposed to be the highlight of our trip this was easily the biggest letdown. A lot of our issues stemmed from our group going up later. Our trip overall was about 20 minutes shorter than the other groups due to their helicopter scheduling, which is a significant amount on an already very short trip. This also made us get dogs that were quite tired out from the group before. Because of this, besides when we were downhill, we probably hit a cap of about 5 mph. They say you can’t take pictures while it’s moving, but even if I dropped anything I probably could’ve walked and caught up to the sled. The dogsledding itself is about 15 minutes, with 5 of those minutes the dogs laying in the snow and getting water (aka eating snow). For a $6-700 dogsledding trip to be so short is quite surprising to me, and not at all worth the money. Finally one girl at the top of the glacier is far too much of a stickler for the rules, so much so that it can rub people the wrong way, but the rest of the staff were fine. Helicopter ride was the best part but they had tours entirely focused on that which we didn’t do. If you have kids it might be nice because you can hold the puppies, but that wasn’t what we signed up to do. Overall we regret doing it, it ended up being a tourist trap, and money would be much better spent elsewhere. Sad my first negative review ever had to be one I was looking forward to so much.
We were in Alaska for 10 days and without question this was the highlight. From the moment we met the staff, to the return trip, everything was excellent. The time on the glacier was so much fun. I expected a few minutes on the dog sled and got so much more.
It was a great experience. We planned a trip for a party of 6 but 2 had to cancel and return home, we called a couple of days before made the change and was credited for the difference. Everything went smoothly; they provided rain gear we needed. They greeted us as we arrived and checked us in promptly. The weather the day of our trip was heavy overcast with light rain. Both passes were fogged in at our scheduled departure time but cleared in about 20 minutes so we could go. Time with the dogs on the glacier was well planned and the staff was great. Our return was delayed due to weather, but it again cleared in about 30 minutes for enough window to get everyone down. We scheduled this trip on the day we were flying home. I would recommend scheduling it earlier in your trip in case the trip gets cancelled due to weather or you have to wait on the mountain longer than expected. Also, it may be colder than you would expect, I was expecting it to be cold, but we had rain and wind that made it colder than I expected. We were still fine, they have shelter up at the dog camp if you need to get out of the weather. Overall, a great trip and staff were all great.
Quick helicopter ride over the mountain to the dog sled camp on the glacier. It was a fun experience to learn about the dog sled process and then ride along. We also got to hang out with some of the puppies.
My son and grandson thoroughly enjoyed the helicopter ride to the glacier and dog sledding. My grandson’s favorite part was being able to play with the huskies after sledding! This was a trip of a lifetime!!!!
This company is great, and based on the reviews I'm sure the dogsledding tour would be amazing. I'm writing just to reiterate the need to be flexible with your timing and understand that your tour might not happen. We made the mistake of partially planning our trip around this tour. It was the activity our kids were looking forward to the most. However, despite showing up for 3 separate tour times over 2 separate days, we were unable to go dogsledding. It's not even necessarily a weather thing. Two of our three attempts were in great weather (sunny, low-wind, etc.), but I guess the glacier they land on is susceptible to low clouds blocking visibility. I realize they can't control the clouds, so we're not upset about them making a safety-related decision not to fly. But I do think it's helpful if future customers build this into their expectations. My only small complaint about the company is that they wait until the very last minute to cancel flights. I appreciate them making every effort to make a tour happen, but we did end up wasting a fair amount of time going back and forth to the airport, getting suited up, etc. However, they were very friendly and apologetic about it.

We has the BEST time on our helicopter trip with Alpine Air Alaska. We enjoyed going glacier dog sledding for the first time and all of the guides and ground/flight crew were amazing. Highly recommend!!!

Our dog sledding experience was the best! We took a helicopter to the Punch Bowl Glacier, loaded on to a dog sled, and took off! We were able to pet/snuggle with the dogs (which is not always possible) and play with puppies. The scenery was spectacular. Alpine Air is a top notch operator from start to finish.
