Castello fu una delle prime parti di Venezia ad essere insediata (dal quinto al sesto secolo). Il distretto prende il nome dal castello che si trovava lì e che ha fornito difesa dagli attacchi dal mare. Ecco l'antico arsenale, che era una parte essenziale della vita della repubblica. Cattedrale di San Pietro di Castello Per molti secoli la cattedrale fu sotto l'autorità del Patriarca di Grado. Nel 1451 Venezia ottenne il proprio patriarca. quindi la chiesa divenne cattedrale. A causa delle dignità che furono soppresse da Napoleone nel 1807, San Marco (San Marco) divenne la nuova cattedrale e invece di essere solo una cappella del Doge divenne la sede del Patriarca Antico Arsenale (Old Arsenal) Può essere riconosciuto dalle sue mura in terracotta e dalle torri quadrate. Dal XIII secolo fu una parte essenziale della vita della repubblica.

Nadia , came with a wonderful taxi boat pick me up at the train stations from the beginning she makes me at ease and explain how Venice was built and why on the water ! She is from Venice very knowledgeable the most for me was that she takes you out of the beaten path , that you can really enjoy what Venice is all about and can hear all the history she explain so well !!!
