We had a layover in Ushuaia and time to fill before we boarded a boat late in the afternoon. We had signed up for the double decker bus tour before starting our vacation but had wondered if we should have signed up for a walking tour. We enjoyed the bus tour; it was a bit hokey but fun. It is a pre recorded audio which comes in different languages. The bus is old but functional. The driver and host/hostess were very friendly. It stops a couple of times so you can get out and see the views of the area and the employees are generous about taking photos of you in front of the views. We learned more about Ushuaia’s history, got to see the town in a short period of time (no worrying about being late to board) and since it was raining off and on all day we got to do it from the enclosed upper level of the bus!
Old bus, tight between the seats, information went in Spanish and English, and cutting Tango music in between talking,. Asked if they could silence the sound, but no, since talking went on the same tape. Had 2 stops, one on a bend, with a nice view, the other by a small lake, no one understood why we were shopping there, a lot of people on the bus gadd not to walk out. The trip to 1 hour and 15 minutes, was not the money they took.
This was a great way to see the city and surrounding neighborhoods of Ushuaia. Arrive about 15 minutes early and show your voucher to them ( they have their uniforms on.) an and in return they will give you a small ticket. At the start the commentary was sll in English and Lila did a great job. She was very friendly and nice snd give us lots of information about the history and developments about Ushuaia. The driver and commentator were very interesting and helpful It was a great way to see a lot of the surrounding areas in the “ valley” of the mountains. I would recommended this it was just under 2 hours. (Note: The bus is light blue and picks you opposite the main tourist information center on side of main road.)
Overall fine. I was in seat 1A and there were 2 nails that stuck up through the edge of the cushion which was pretty uncomfortable. The first @ 10-15 minutes of the information broadcast was very difficult to hear so we missed quote a bit. The person speaking had a very quiet voice. The last part appeared to be a recording with much boost voices which was much better. It would also be helpful if the hosts reminded people to keep talking to a minimum as we had several very noisy people around us.
good weather heard the softies behind the building and the history of the area. Good way to get a walking tour created
We consider this bus tour a must in Ushuaia. The comment is interesting and most of the places visited could not be seen otherwise.
Again, a typical hop-on-hop-off bus experience, although on a smaller scale. Great way to orientate you to Montevideo. We didn't hop on or off as the busses dont come around that regularly. Still a great way to see the city.
The bus is very easy to find. I recommend to do this on one of your first days to get oriented in Ushuaia. The narration is also very informative about the town's history.
The tour only lasted an hour the bus was warm and comfortable with a good driver and his sister. Not a great deal to see but a good overview especially if it is raining. Narrated well. Not at all expensive.
I will preface this review by saying I took it after 6 days in Antarctica so most everything will Palermo in com0arison to that. It was basic and was on older busses so a bit lackluster. Commentary was minimal on the sites. It did make 2 photo stops that were of very beautiful scenery.
Dear Gary, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear that the tour did not fully meet your expectations. We understand that after such an extraordinary journey to Antarctica, some activities may naturally feel more modest in comparison. Regarding the aspects you mentioned, we work with vehicles that meet local standards for this type of excursion, and we strive to ensure they are comfortable and functional for the route. As for the tour commentary, we appreciate your feedback and will share it with our team to improve the quality and depth of the information provided in future departures. We’re glad to know you enjoyed the photo stops, as the scenery in this region is truly one of the highlights of the tour. Our goal is to offer every traveler a genuine connection with the surroundings and to showcase the best of the destination. We value your comments as they help us continue to improve. We hope to provide you with a more satisfying experience on a future visit. Best regards, Tangol Tours.
