L'edificio che oggi ospita la nostra biglietteria è uno dei più antichi edifici correlati ai canali della zona, risalente al 1774 ed è classificato di II grado. In origine era un magazzino per il trasporto di merci sul canale, quindi le grandi gru all'esterno: una di fronte al canale, l'altra di fronte al nostro parcheggio acciottolato, ex scuderie per cavalli che rimorchiano l'imbarcazione. Da qualche parte vicino al sito del pontile, sebbene la posizione esatta sia ormai persa, si trovava Winterwell Hall, un maniero medievale i cui resti furono persi durante la costruzione del bacino del canale.
La barca attraversa un buco tortuoso nella parte di Skipton conosciuta come Snaygill. Direttamente di fronte al buco tortuoso si trova la Craven Nursing Home. Questo è costruito sul sito di Snaygill House e inizialmente fu costruito come casa pubblica, i Copper Beeches. Snaygill era precedentemente una città separata da Skipton. È stato elencato nel Domesday Book come di proprietà di William the Conqueror, precedentemente dal conte Edwin. La terra ha mostrato di essere sei carucati per dimensione e produzione: un Carucato è la terra che 8 buoi possono arare in una sola stagione, circa 120 acri.

We enjoyed spending two hours gently sailing along the Leeds and Liverpool canal whilst enjoying a tasty afternoon tea. The food was all very fresh and the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. This all made a lovely change from the hustle and bustle of life. Would definitely recommend.
Just really good value. Food great. And very relaxing. I loved the fact that they kept topping up tea and coffee!
Wonderful afternoon gently cruising down the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Booking in was easy, helpful onboard crew, spacious in the seating/dining area and great views. Our cruise took 2 hours, and was full of interest with the scenery changing from hidden views of Skipton, to the gorgeous scenery all around Skipton. Plenty of wildlife spotting, interesting watching crew operate the bridges, etc…. The food was delicious and filling, a lot of variety. Boat had a board bar with a good selection of soft drinks as well as alcohol. Nice atmosphere as well on board. Boat had an onboard toilet and washroom. There are some steps down onto the deck, but crew are helpful, and offer advice. We would definitely do this trip again, very enjoyable, and good value for money.
Having spent the weekend in Skipton We had booked the canal trip for afternoon tea. We booked with Skipton boat trips The staff were polite , the food was excellent The canal trip lasted 2 hours it was well worth every penny

The Afternoon Tea Trip on the canal boat is a really lovely treat. As a huge fan of afternoon teas, I enjoy locations and venues which are just a little out of the ordinary, and special. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience at The Ritz recently and I have to say that the food served on this trip could match it. Of course, ambience wise, this Afternoon Tea experience is a complete contrast, and none the worse for that. The trip is very relaxing (and gentlemen are not required to wear a jacket and tie!) the food delicious, the pace slow as the boat glides along the canal – another world. And no waiter anywhere, even at the Ritz, could be more attentive than Olly. In fact, all the staff are very friendly and helpful. A delightful experience and one I recommend wholeheartedly.
This was an enjoyable experience. We had a bottle of wine with our tea which made it especially relaxing. The staff was efficient and friendly. It was well organized in that everyone was assigned a table before entering the boat, so there was no pushing or shoving to get to tables. The ride was long enough, though not quite as scenic as I had hoped. The pastries tasted better than the sandwiches which could have used more filling.
Well organised , attentive staff, pleasant cruise, just what you’d expect . Good value for money
