The experience was terrible. La dolce vita is not like this. To begin with, they group people who are going to Sorrento and Pompeii for the day with those who are going to do the 3-day tour. The downside of this is that they adapt the times to the 1-day tour, making unnecessary stops and delays to reach the destination, taking away time to enjoy, explore, or even rest. They picked us up at the hotel in Rome at 6:46 (without being able to have breakfast at the hotel). A driver came to pick us up who made us load our suitcases into a transport that was not ours; on the other hand, the van that was coming to pick us up was at another point of the hotel. Unloading and reloading the suitcases to a place 10 minutes away at most, where again, loading and unloading of luggage. They put us on a bus with people who were going to take a one-day excursion to Sorrento. Beyond the driver's rest stop, they stopped at a limoncello factory, which, although very pretty, delayed our arrival in Sorrento. We arrived in Sorrento and they told us to have lunch there, because they did not think the hotel would have anything for lunch due to the time. They gave us an hour and a half to eat. Back on the bus, which changed units, therefore, loading and unloading of suitcases. In the end, and it being 4:00 PM already, we arrived at the Hotel Vesuvio. Because of the time, it was no longer possible to take a boat excursion, and the tour managers washed their hands of it; they told us to check at the hotel, and what they offered us was an excursion only if enough members joined, it being around 4:00 PM and having gotten up in Rome at 6:45. Without guides, without explanations, the girl who accompanied us did not know the language and did not explain anything to us, she only sent a message. The hotel had a free bus to the city, which no one explained to you how to take or where to get off. They did give us a bus schedule grid. The next day was splendid. Sasha made us forget the bad moments. The next day. They picked us up at 1:00 PM, having checked out of the room at 11:00. 2 hours wasted, to go with those who were coming with the one-day tour to Pompeii. I did not like that they combined 2 excursions and made us adapt to those who are going to do everything in one day.
We booked what was supposed to be a complete 11-day/10-night Fantasy tour in Spanish. Here Carrani splits it in two. For the first part, we had a main guide and local guides at all times, then the second part, which was heading south, was all chaos. The transfers were bad, we didn't have a guide (only the local ones), they mixed us in both on the way there and on the way back with people from a daily excursion, and you are tied to the schedules of that modality. Really everything was very bad.
Not well organized, hotel was nice but food was horrible. The Capri trip was very nice and the Pompeii was informational
Awful experience, complete waste of money. Did not get services/activities offered. No Limoncello tasting, no attendant/no guide Day 1, no alternatives given for Capri (not offered during the off season), no transportation or information to dinners offered, logistics were a nightmare. Arrived at the hotel at 10 AM and told we couldn’t check in till 3. The hotel had to offer us assistance to fix the accommodation. No assistance in getting to the dinner offered (told to show up with a voucher). We had to figure out everything on our own and were left largely abandoned in a strange city with no help. When we arrived day 1 and asked the guide who drove us there for assistance, she repeatedly had to call the office and kept saying “I don’t know, you know as much as I do” which is crazy from a tour guide. She did call the office repeatedly to try to fix our issues or answer our questions, but it largely went in circles. Tour company told us to call Viator. Was on the phone with Viator over an hour. They kept saying we needed to call the tour company, saying “their site needs to be updated”. Viator kept saying “you need to call the tour company, we get our information from them”. There are no alternatives offered for Capri (not offered during the off season). No assistance in arranging other activities or alternatives when we asked. In the end, very little got resolved. No one was able to help. We were left abandoned in a strange city. We had to spend hours solving logistical problems. Some information is blatantly wrong. Some information is very misleading. Some things are aren’t exactly wrong but it’s not clear of falls into “lies of omission”. In the end we largely overpaid for and very sub oar experience.
Hotel pick-up was by van who then takes you to the bus. This was not clearly explained by tour operator, so a little confusing at the start as all the driver said was tour to Pompeii but I saw our names on his list so we went with him. We stayed at the hotel Grand Vesuvius which was very nice with great views. A little ways out of town but they have a free shuttle to Sorrento. Our room was hot though as they turn off A/C in Oct. Meals were good, but drinks not included. Excursions were great to Capri and Pompeii. The hotel offered an optional tour to Postano Amalfi coast by van but they wanted 70 euros per person. Not worth it at all. We took the Sati city bus for 2.40 per person from the train station which is 6 minutes walk from where the shuttle drops you off. The line up for the bus was very long but a taxi driver who could hold 8 people offered a ride back for 15 euros each. We joined others and did that. So total for the 2 of us 34.80 euros to visit Postano/Amalfi coast instead of the 140 euros the hotel wanted.
This was a fantastic 3-day excursion to Sorrento, including a day on Capri Island. Everything about this trip was fully organized, including the transfers from hotels to activities. The tour operator was Carrani Tours, and it was a very professional organization. There was plenty of time in Sorrento, the day on Capri was lovely, and the stop in Pompei was fascinating. If you are looking for an excursion to the Amalfi Coast, this is it!

What an incredible experience. I loved all of it and am so glad I took the 3 day, rather than a single day trip. Stunning views, interesting visit to Pompeii and Capri is just amazing. Guides were great, logistics flawless, hotel lovely.
Penny - thanks for choosing our 3 Days in Sorrento, Capri & Pompeii: la Dolce Vita! We're glad you enjoyed every aspect of it! Best regards, Gray Line Rome Your DMC in Rome
This trip was absolutely amazing! So well organized. The guides were very informative and Sasha made us feel as if we had gone back in time and were actually living in the Pompeii ruins in ancient times. The views were spectacular! I recommend 100%!
Wonder trip. Great to be at front of lines. Hotel first class. Hotel restaurant great dining experience
This tour was fantastic but we had GREAT customer service. One party member left clothes in a hotel in Sorrento. The agency picked up the clothes for us and then shipped them back to the U.S. (we happily paid for the shipping) for us. They went above and beyond their duty to help us retrieve lost items. We greatly appreciate this service! We highly recommend this company and tour!
