2 - Giorno Guilin Highlights: Longji Terraces e tour in crociera sul fiume Li

My wife and I and our son (age 12) just spent four days in the Guilin and Yangshuo areas, and our wonderful guide Leo was instrumental in it being such an amazing visit. Leo’s knowledge, kindness, and flexibility went above and beyond anything we expected. During planning, Leo listened to what we wanted to do and made suggestions to help create a manageable itinerary. We packed in a lot though we never felt rushed. In fact, we had plenty of time to explore at our own pace and linger when we found our favorite spots or activities. Leo shared authentic culture away from the crowds and was so pleasant to spend several days with. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him, which is especially helpful when traveling with children.  Longji Rice Terraces and the Longhair show were very interesting and unique. The Li River Cruise was relaxing and the scenery very peaceful. We drifted along on a bamboo raft, zipped through the countryside on a scooter tour, and enjoyed dinner at a restaurant built into a cave. Leo knew the best spot to start the scooter tour so we could explore via a calm and gorgeous path and not on the busy street. Every restaurant and dish recommendation he made was perfect. Leo offered authentic (yes!) and Western (no thank you!) dining options and helped introduce us to so many wonderfully prepared local dishes.  In addition to the usual tourist sights in Guilin, he arranged a private visit to a tea plantation where they cultivate and research different types of tea. Despite having some prior knowledge of Chinese tea culture, we learned a lot including how to pick tea from the plant, how to take those leaves from the field to the cup, and we tasted several varieties and learned more about different cups and filters.     Last but not least, we visited Daxu Ancient Town & Dongli Ancient Village where we had a farm-to-table lunch and made our own fan. Carried umbrellas for us in case it rained. The Dragonback Rice Terraces was my favorite part of the 2 days. I would recommend this tour for all travelers.

My husband and I just finished a two-day private tour in Guilin, and it was incredible! The travel agency made everything seamless, and the pick-up service was excellent. He shared fascinating insights into China’s ethnic minority culture, explaining the history of the terraces and the traditions of local groups. His knowledge and passion made the experience unforgettable. The second day’s Li River cruise was breathtaking. Eric even showed us a Chinese Banknotes with the same scenery—such a cool detail! The landscapes matched the murals I’ve seen in U.S. Chinese restaurants, and seeing them in person was a dream come true.
