We had an outstanding time with our guide, Francisco. He was incredibly punctual like a Patek Philippe watch. We are in reasonably good shape and the hike was very moderate with tons of time to take pictures along the way—and whenever we looked tired, Francisco casually stopped to point out the local flora. Our guide was very knowledgeable on the history of the area and funny—really a gem and made the door to door experience a breeze. Highly recommend this 2D tour to anyone who is going to Machu Pichu. It felt far richer than just the tour of the site itself…and without the pain of camping and hiking 4D, if that isn’t your cup of tea. You do need to be able to hike 6-8 hours carrying 2L of water and overnight clothes/electronics but it’s manageable at the moderate altitudes.
Thank you so much for your outstanding review! We're delighted to hear that you had such a great time with Francisco as your guide. His punctuality, comparable to a Patek Philippe watch, and his ability to make the hike enjoyable with frequent stops to appreciate the local flora truly make him a gem. It's wonderful that you found the hike moderate and had ample time to take pictures along the way. We're glad to know that Francisco's knowledge of the area's history and his sense of humor enhanced your experience, making the door-to-door journey a breeze. Your recommendation of the 2-day tour is much appreciated, especially for those who prefer a shorter hike without the camping aspect. Thank you for pointing out the need to be prepared for 6-8 hours of hiking with essential supplies. We’re thrilled that you found it manageable and enriching. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!
What an amazing experience it was to explore Machu Picchu with Bamba under the excellent guidance of Junior, as well as the preparations by Kwanele. I went together with Junior, and enjoyed his deep knowledge about the area and Inca history, and humor. Besides, he knows the best spots to take pictures and is always willing to take pictures of you, sometimes even with his own high-quality phone. On this tour you see Machu Picchu twice, and also the other ruines on day 1 are very impressive - thanks to Junior we often escaped the crowds. Also everything was arranged perfectly: the tickets, boxed lunch, hotel, and dinner on day 1 - together with the guide. All in all I highly recommend this tour!
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing experience exploring Machu Picchu with us! We are delighted to hear that Junior and Kwanele contributed to making your journey so memorable. Junior’s deep knowledge of the area, Inca history, and his sense of humor truly add to the adventure. It's great to know that he guided you to the best spots for photos and even used his own high-quality phone to capture moments for you. His ability to help you escape the crowds and experience the ruins in a more intimate setting is one of the things we strive for. We are glad that everything was arranged perfectly, from the tickets to the boxed lunch, hotel, and dinner on the first day. Your high recommendation means a lot to us. Thank you for choosing Bamba, and we look forward to welcoming you on another incredible journey in the future!
I took the 2d express tour to Machu Picchu. Ended up being a private tour as I was the only one in the group, but Bamba had it run anyway (thank you!). Junior was my guide, and an excellent one. He paced the hike well, with enough time to pause for rest, views and pictures. Lots of info too, as you would expect from a proper tour. How to pronounce Machu Picchu? Why this particular mountain? Where is all the gold? These any many other questions I got the answers to. Also Junior takes great photos, friends and family will appreciate!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience with the 2-day express tour to Machu Picchu! We are delighted to hear that, even though it turned out to be a private tour, you had a fantastic time. Junior will be thrilled to know that his pacing, informative guidance, and photography skills made your trip memorable. It’s great to hear that you received answers to all your questions and enjoyed the beautiful views and rest stops along the hike. We appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you on another adventure with Bamba soon!
Francisco was a fabulous tour guide! He was especially knowledgeable and passionate about the Incan culture. He gave an amazing tour and the hike was stunning.
We loved the hike and visiting Machu Picchu, but the very best part was our fabulous guide, Francisco. He set a pace my wife and I could handle at 56 and 58 years of age, while keeping our four kids (16 - 25) interested by his incredible knowledge, story telling and enthusiasm for Peruvian history and culture.
I did this tour with my husband and 4 kids aged 15-25. Francisco was our guide and he was amazing. On the hiking portion he set a pace that was comfortable for my husband and me and regaled my kids with stories about the mountains, the Incans, and his family’s life in the Andes while we caught up. There was no question he couldn’t answer. In Machu Picchu he gave such detailed information about the civilization and he was so passionate that we didn’t want it to end. He also took amazing photos for us. We have traveled around the world and he was our favorite tour guide!
Still recovering from a minor knee injury, I needed a shorter and less demanding alternative to those 4+ day trekking options for Machu Picchu. I also wanted to hike from Intipunku to Machu Picchu, to follow the footsteps of the Inca people. I was glad to have found this 2 day/1 night tour offered by Bamba. The evening before the tour there was a mandatory briefing at the Cusco office of Bamba, which was just a few minutes by walk from the main plaza. The staff there was super friendly and helpful. They did a great job explaining to me what I needed to know and carry with me. I also enjoyed chatting with other tourists and making some coca tea. The first day of the tour entailed getting to the "km 104" Inca Trail checkpoint by local transportation, and then a total of ~7.13 miles of trekking, most of which was uphill. Along the way there were lots of beautiful wildlife to see, quite a few of Inca ruins to admire. At Intipunku I had my first glimpse of Machu Picchu, and then within 1 hour we entered the great ruin to take some photos. We then took the shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes to have dinner and to rest for the night. The second day we took the same shuttle bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu to experience the ruin with greater detail. The architecture was not only masterful in terms of the resourceful, thoughtful engineering but also a reflection of Inca's cosmological understanding. I added the Huayna Picchu optional hike, which took me about 1 hour to summit and then a bit less time to hike down. To me the Huayna Picchu option was well worth the extra time; I got to view Machu Picchu in the intended shape of a sacred animal. My guide Sergio (who lives in Cusco) did a terrrific job during the tour. He was fun to talk to, reliable and knowledgeable. Through him I learned a lot about the Inca culture and about Peru today. Sergio planed and explained our itinerary thoroughly. He paid attention to my physical status and safety, since I struggled with the high altitude. I felt very well taken care of during the tour. This tour was a very enjoyable experience for me, largely thanks to Sergio's friendliness and professionalism. Also thumbs up to Bamba. I will happily join Bamba for many more tours again.
Myself and my girlfriend had an amazing time hiking with our guide Francisco! He was a great laugh and full of knowledge about everything we could ask for. He made the trip really fun and interesting. As it was just us 3, he let us go at a good pace and always asking if we needed a break. He is also a great photographer as we have some amazing pictures to take home with us! The briefing the day before was also great in helping us understand how the 2 days would pan out. If you don't have the time, money or energy for the full Inca trek then I would definitely recommend this as it was a magical experience that we will never forget!!
We just arrived form the classic Inka trail 4 day trek to Machu Picchu with our guide Vidal who was exceptional explain us about the Inka's culture and local experience, the porters were amazing made everything to have the best time.. Food was great many varieties. We would like to recommend Bamba and Vidal to go by this trek to Machu Picchu
