What is Marie-Antoinette's Hamlet at Versailles?
The Hameau de la Reine, a rustic village of twelve thatched buildings — mill, dairy, farmhouse and tower — built for Marie-Antoinette from 1783 around an artificial lake. It was a private retreat where the queen could escape court etiquette, and the working farm still keeps animals today.
Is the Trianon estate included in a Versailles ticket?
Not in the palace-only ticket. The Estate of Trianon needs either its own ticket or the combined Passport, which most full-estate tours include. The Trianon domain opens at noon, later than the palace.
How do you get from the palace to the Trianon?
It is about 2 km — a 25–30 minute walk through the gardens, a €9 ride on the estate's little train, or a few minutes by rented bike or golf cart. Full-day tours build the transfer into the itinerary.
