Lovely walking tour of Yountville and a progressive food and wine dining experience. Wonderful selections and great information about the area. Highly recommend.
Our tour guide Rebeka was extremely knowledgeable. We thought the tour was overpriced and there could of been better wine selections and a larger pour. For instance Rose was served at the first two locations. Most of wines served throughout the tour were not Napa(not very interesting in Italian Chianti on my Napa visit.) The French laundry probably shouldn't be on the list as just walking by was deceiving. You basically stay on the other side of the street. Also, I looked up a couple of the wines and they were $15 bottles. Two of the stops included chocolate which was a bit of an overkill. The food given at RH hardware, Botegga and Bistro Jeantry were small portions but absolutely amazing. It was a very nice tour but $700 for 2 people was not worth. A more reasonable price, I'd definitely recommend.
Hi April, Thank you so much for joining us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We're happy to hear you enjoyed Rebeka’s expertise and the dishes at RH, Bottega, and Bistro Jeanty — they are truly special stops. We do want to clarify a few key points for future guests: We note throughout our materials and during the tour that a half-glass of wine is poured at each location. At your first and final stop your bottles are local and approximately $100. I can also assure you that none of the wines on our tour are priced at $15 — however we thoughtfully select wines for quality and pairing, not just cost. The first wine served is Roederer sparkling wine from Anderson Valley, made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The second is a still rosé from Provence made with Sancerre — both very different in style and winemaking method. The rosé is specifically chosen to cool the palate and pair beautifully with our gourmet offering at Bistro Jeanty: a full serving of their signature tomato soup en croûte, which guests often say they can't even finish — it’s that rich and satisfying. One must think - would it be a problem if you had two whites or two reds in a row if they were different varietals? Regarding chocolate: we serve it only at the end of the tour. However, Kollar Chocolates often offers a complimentary truffle as we share Chris Kollar’s story in their space — a gracious gesture from a valued partner. As for The French Laundry — we never enter the restaurant and clearly state this in all of our materials and during the tour. The stop is included to honor its global culinary significance, and we highlight the history, ownership, and accomplishments of Thomas Keller, the most Michelin-starred chef in the United States. We always appreciate feedback and take it seriously as we continue refining the experience we offer. Thank you again for joining us. Warm regards, Renée Gourmet Food & Wine Tours
The food was excellent but I was disappointed that we paid for food and wine and then shared it with our guides. Also instead of allowing us space to enjoy the experience they were always at the table trying to control the conversations. It was very intrusive to say the least - if we wanted to ask questions we would have but having someone constantly talking was annoying.
Hi Terry, Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the food and wine, and I truly appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the experience. I wanted to clarify that while I was shadowing yesterday, anything I consumed was paid for by my company. Your guide did not partake in any food; she merely tasted the new wine at your second stop. Since the restaurants regularly update their ingredients with the seasons, I like to ensure the pairings are still on point. This is why I didn’t finish the one plate I sampled. My guide noticed before I did that your group preferred to experience the tour without much commentary. This was a first for me, so I apologize if I was too eager to share. I was also excited to hear my newer guide’s progress with telling the stories that accompany the different stops. I sincerely regret if this affected your enjoyment. We genuinely strive to provide an enjoyable and relaxed experience for everyone, and I’m sorry we didn’t meet those expectations on this occasion. Please know that we are always working to improve, and your input is incredibly valuable to us. I hope you enjoyed all the birthday extras my guide arranged for you, as well as the T-shirt! Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with your thoughts. Warm regards, Renee
We loved this food and wine tour. The wine and food were great and it was nice to just walk from place to place with our guide. Aniko (guide) had great information about the local wine, food, and history. It was a wonderful day
Thank you so much for taking the time to point others toward Gourmet Food & Wine Tours in Yountville. Aniko is truly an amazing hostess, showcasing some of the very best flavors in the CA wine country. We appreciate you and wish you safe travels always! Cheers, Renee
Aniko was extremely informative about multiple locations. We thoroughly enjoyed her and it was a lovely day. Food was unique and tasty.
Thank you for your stellar review on Aniko and our experience guiding one of California's most delicious destinations. Gourmet Food & Wine Tours is proud to represent four locations to the public and even more for private tours. We are grateful for customers like you.
We had a lovely experience, however, we have had many wine and food pairings in the past and the cost should have been half of what they charged us. This experience was not worth almost $600.00 dollars per couple.
Hello Diana, I am sorry you did not recognize the value and I could see that if your other experiences were abroad that it would color your expectations. The tour costs $255 per person and it includes us paying for the food, wine, tip and tax at each and every location. It also includes paying a knowledgable guide who created a "lovely" afternoon at Michelin or Michelin worthy restaurants. What we charge, barely helps us stay afloat due to the high costs for restaurants and tasting rooms. I think this is why most all of our reviews have 5 stars here. *Many provide feedback that they don't know how we are not charging more. But I respect and understand why you would write this review because I too have done pairing tours overseas and everything there is so much less. I share your frustration and am so sorry you were not happy.
Food was outstanding, wines were also very good and our guide Aniko was fantastic. The only criticism would be the wines, while very good, they were mostly international. Would suggest for further tours strictly utilizing wines from the valley.
Thank you so much for your five star rating and for the thoughtful feedback on the wine. I have grappled with this for sometime and ultimately I am grateful for the opportunity to explain. We do use international wine if it is the best possible varietal and flavor profile for pairing with the gourmet food we want to present for that particular restaurant. I decided to prioritize it in that way because we are beholden to what is available on each notable restaurant's menu and sometimes the pairing is just better with a wine from a different part of the globe. That being said, we are always ending with a local Napa wine or Sonoma port. Sometimes we do start with a local wine to start off too, but it is always only because it is the best wine to share with the dish. We know everyone is usually visiting the wineries throughout our region and so usually people don't mind transporting to Italy, Mexico or France to marry a desired combination of flavors to their palate. I do very much respect your input and appreciate your feedback for our micro operation! Thanks again, Renee
Teresa was our guide and she did a fantastic job. One of our favorite things we did on our trip to Napa. Food was amazing paired up for us and a great way to try new food and wine. The group we were with were all so nice and met some great new people. The day was beautiful, we learned a lot of the area the restaurants, and this was a great experience. Highly recommend

My wine and food tour was exceptional! Our guide Aniko was amazing. Her warm and friendly demeanor set the tone for the entire tour. Each stop was thoughtfully selected showcasing delicious dishes paired with fantastic wines. The experience was well organized and delightful from start to finish.
