Arrêt photo : prison de Drakenstein. En 1982, Mandela a été transféré de la prison à sécurité maximale de Robben Island, une petite île de Table Bay, à la prison de Pollsmoor à Tokai, au Cap. De là, Mandela a été transféré à la prison Victor Verster de l'époque le 9 décembre 1988, où il vivait dans une maison privée à l'intérieur de l'enceinte de la prison. Victor Verster, une ferme-prison, a souvent été utilisé comme tremplin pour la libération des prisonniers politiques à faible risque. Mandela a purgé encore 14 mois à la prison de Victor Verster (maintenant appelée Drakenstein) jusqu'à sa libération le 11 février 1990. Le jour de sa libération, des journalistes du monde entier ont encerclé la prison, donnant à la prison une publicité mondiale.

I enjoyed everything so much, from the beautiful place to the service, the food, and the whole experience. Everything was well organised, relaxing, and truly memorable. I honestly have nothing bad to say. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely experience. I would happily come back again.

I had the best time doing this tour. It was definitely value for money. We drank so much wine in every stop. The portions were generous for a tasting. Charles was also very entertaining and organized. Everything went smoothly and on time. Tando was also a very safe driver. You would have to have your electronic voucher printed at your pick-up point, then ride the hop on-hop off bus to V&A Waterfront. I wish this was indicated in the booking summary. I wouldn't have known had I not been approached by the hop on/off driver.

Derrick and Mo were excellent throughout our wine tour. They were both friendly, attentive and always had a smile. Derrick was knowledgeable, welcoming and very open to questions, while Mo made sure the journey was comfortable, safe and enjoyable. They created a relaxed atmosphere and made the whole day feel well organised and fun. I would highly recommend them both. I would 100% recommend this especially if you get the guys. The only issue was the email of the pickup location was off slightly.

The trip is pretty complete, we went to three different cellars, having lunch in one of them. The guide, Derek, was amazing, he was constantly giving information, fun facts and history; which made the whole trip way more interesting. The driver Mo was also great, approachable and always making the stops on time. There was no admission fee besides the price paid for the tour. But lunch is not included, so budget for about R150/200 per person besides the tour price. We left the last pick-up point at around 8:50am, and got to our first stop at 9:40am more or less. We got back to Cape Town at around 18:00pm, making it a total of ~9 hours. The atmosphere was nice as well, we went on a weekday, so there weren’t too many people in the cellars besides those who were on the tour (it was maybe 30 people total). I recommend this activity for those who want to avoid driving for the wine tastings, and who want a day pre-planned for them.
