Arrêt photo : prison de Drakenstein. En 1982, Mandela a été transféré de la prison à sécurité maximale de Robben Island, une petite île de Table Bay, à la prison de Pollsmoor à Tokai, au Cap. De là, Mandela a été transféré à la prison Victor Verster de l'époque le 9 décembre 1988, où il vivait dans une maison privée à l'intérieur de l'enceinte de la prison. Victor Verster, une ferme-prison, a souvent été utilisé comme tremplin pour la libération des prisonniers politiques à faible risque. Mandela a purgé encore 14 mois à la prison de Victor Verster (maintenant appelée Drakenstein) jusqu'à sa libération le 11 février 1990. Le jour de sa libération, des journalistes du monde entier ont encerclé la prison, donnant à la prison une publicité mondiale.

We had a wonderful time exploring Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl, and trying a variety of wines. Each stop was unique, and there were many opportunities to take scenic photos. While the tour was quite large, our guide, Robbie, did a great job of making the experience feel imminent. I recommend this tour to anybody who enjoys wine and is interested in seeing some of the countryside regions outside of Cape Town. Whether you are solo, a couple, or in a group, it is a great opportunity to meet other travelers as well!

Brilliant experience picked up on time at the waterfront and then headed to the wine farms and the tour quide gave us a talk about all the vine yards and the history and the local areas we were in very knowledgeable. Also visited the area where Nelson Mandela did the long walk to freedom and saw the staue of him . Also had a 25min walk round stallenbosh where we was also spoken to about the history of the buildings and area. We brought food at one of the vineyards and it was beautiful . Would recommend been a lovely day.

Excellent visit to three wineries with various wines and pairings. Paul (tour guide) shared a lot of interesting facts as we drove and Tanto was a good driver. Overall very good value for the cost. Lunch was extra, but large portions for low cost. It was a plus to visit prison where Nelson Mandela finally obtained his freedom. I highly recommend this tour.

We waited a long time to start after we had too trade bus. The restaurant that we lunch doesn’t have a lot options.

Incredible intimate group of 15 went to 3 different wineries. Mark our tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about all things wine and South Africa. We were worried we would waste a day going to taste wine but it was well worth it and want to do it again!
