Check out on Google Maps museo casa montejo . You can book a free tour there every day at 9, 10, and 5 PM. Why would you pay €16 on Tripadvisor? According to the description, it is the same tour. In general, everything on Tripadvisor in Mexico is twice as expensive as if you drive there on your own by car. Tripadvisor is more worthwhile in other countries (Thailand, Indonesia).
Got to see beautiful art and architecture in Mérida, highly recommend! Learned about the history of the Mayan people and the Spanish involvement in the area.

Our tour with Max was amazing! He shared so much history and culture, which really brought the places we visited to life!!
We live in the Southern U.S. and are used to exercising and working in the yard in hot weather. However, we were unprepared for the heat of this tour. Our guide talked a very long time (or at least it felt along time) about the art in the governor's palace. He was very knowledgeable, but it was so stifling, one of the older men in our group had to leave. The churches and other buildings had doors open or some sort of ventilation. But unfortunately we about an hour in this building. There are lots of stairs and uneven walking surfaces. If you go, take a folding fan, a hat (for walking between buildings) and a bottle of water. There are some stores near the square that sell water but you will have to break off from the tour to go find one.
We understand that weather conditions can greatly influence the overall experience, especially during the warmer months. While we always strive to provide an enjoyable and informative tour, unfortunately the climate is beyond our control. Our guides do their best to balance historical context, cultural insights, and the comfort of the group throughout the experience. We also appreciate the practical suggestions you shared, as they may help future travelers prepare for the conditions and make the most of their visit.
Merida has so much wonderful history and it’s great seeing it up close. My wife & I would recommend this to everyone.
Fantastic tour of historic downtown Merida. Our guide Edgar was very knowledgeable and tailored the tour to our interests and level of knowledge. He also went out of his way to recommend food spots and places to check out in the city. It was a great way to start our trip in Merida!!

Max was a great guide - we lucked out and ended up with a private tour! Hearing the stories and people behind the buildings made the city all the more enjoyable. The points of interest are pretty close together and Max made sure to find spots in the shade to stop and talk so it wasn’t too hot!
