This ended up being a private tour which was great. The tour guide was very knowledgeable around Butrint, it was really interesting to hear everything. We had the perfect amount of time there. It was great to see Ksamil as well and we had a good amount of time there. I would definitely recommend this trip. Butrint was probably the best bit of our holiday!
Thanks dear!
We booked a group tour, and got a private tour due to numbers - win! Our guide tried, but did not have as much knowledge as other guides I have had, but did add to our experience. Butrint is definitely worth the visit - we really enjoyed the walk around the site. Ksamil is, however, not worth the effort, it is now so over-developed that there is very little point in visiting for an hour, you either need to stay for a full afternoon/evening or not bother. It would be worth a different, less busy beach option.
The visit of Butrint is scheduled for a duration of 2 hours. Now, the 2 hours include travel times from pick-up from 9:30 until we are dropped off in Ksamil at 11:30. The explanations given about Butrint were recited as a lesson and express, including visiting the site. When we were dropped off in Ksamil, no advice or explanation. What we saw from Ksamil is not interesting and not worth a visit. In total, the excursion lasted 4h30, as we waited an hour following a car problem. Anyway! A quick visit and too expensive compared to the services.
So gooooooood!!!!!!!!! Beautiful, good people better food... and the sea... breathtakingly beautiful and relaxing

We took the ferry from Corfu to Albania and were nervous about the country but our tour guide met us at the ferry port with a sign and a massive smile. She walked us around the local area while we waited for the driver giving us little snippets of information making us feel very comfortable in a very new land. On the tour we had plenty of opportunity to ask questions and stop to look at things or take photos. We weren't rushed. The Ancient City of Butrint is a must see! Honestly, it blew my mind. We hadn't researched Albania at all but spontaneously decided to catch the ferry across and I've not stopped talking about this place since.
Butrint was a lovely place, historical place to visit with beautiful national park and views, however the young tour guide was clearly bored of being a tour guide and spoke with little enthusiasm and interest.....bit like a bored teenager wanting to go home as quickly as possible 😀. Ksamil was only 1 hour, so sat in a lovely bar overlooking the beach and blue waters but an expensive and overated beach.....glad we didn't end up in a hotel there!
The tour picked us on time. But the drive to Butrint was dizzying because the driver was probably in a rush. However for the tour itself, the guide explained the national park well, highlighting the important parts. He was considerate and nice all throughout. We couldn’t go to certain areas because it was unsafe due to heavy rains the previous day. They only gave us an hour at Ksamil beach which was a bummer so we were a bit rushed (although you can probably ask to extend) and then they picked us up to drop off back at our hotel. We took nice pictures and it was still a memorable part of our Albania trip. 🙂
Wasn’t exactly as I expected, driver had no english which is fair and understandable, and the guide at butrint did, however he drove kind of erratically and dangerously. Also no air con but the tour never stated that it did, so that was just a bit unfortunate for us. Got our tour of butrint which was quick but informative and good, ( you don’t get time for pictures though unless you can take very quick snaps as you go) then only got an hour and a half at ksamil. The times stated half 9 to half 4, however we were finished by half 1. Maybe I didn’t read the fine print though so could have been my misunderstanding. Just stating these things to give others who may book it a heads up, as was enjoyable other wise.
Everything was done on time and professionally, i am very happy with the service provided by the crew

The experience was great! I visited this ancient site and it's been amazing, also because we were routed by a fantastic and passionate guide named Elidon! This guy made the whole group feel like the ancient world were still alive nowadays, a jump into the past. He's really well informed about the history and his country, he also mentioned some ancient legends which made me dream a bit. It's a must have if plan to go to butrint. We also had the chance to visit ksamil's beaches and have a swim in that beautiful water paradise. Thanks for everything!
