Going on a Flavor Teller Food Tour is a tradition of ours and taking whatever guests we have with us that trip to Mazatlán. I have been on all the tours except Día de los Muertos and have started repeating! This was our second time on Seafood Secrets but first time with Wendy, who was delightful. She had the same love and passion for Mazatlán as Maaike. I love supporting local businesses and learning about the history of certain dishes. You will learn so much and try different foods you might not experience otherwise. It is a wonderful way to experience Mazatlán!
Hi Kendra (or should I say: Flavor Teller ambassador!). It is always a real pleasure to welcome you and your foodie friends on our tours. Mazatlan and seafood are often mentioned in the same sentence and the local Marisquerias are the perfect place to sample shrimp and fish. Thank you for your curious appetite and for supporting for the local community. Hopefully you will join us on the Day of the Dead tour in October or on another Flavor Teller tour next year. Hasta pronto!
Just wrapped up the Seafood Secrets tour with Wendy as our FlavorTeller food guide. This was a fantastic experience with lots of wonderful food. Wendy is extremely personal, knowledgeable and easy to understand. Everyone in our group of five highly recommends this tour! Delicious!
Hi Jim! Thank you for coming back for another Flavor Teller tour! Mazatlan is famous for its seafood restaurants, but it isn't easy to find the famous marisquerias that locals rave about. Looks like you enjoyed all the different ways to eat fish and shrimp like a local. Keep up your great energy and we look forward to welcoming you again soon!
If you like delicious food, getting to know the local community, and learning connections to culture and history - do this tour! We were on a cruise ship and only had a few hours in Mazatlan. We can't imagine a better way to spend them! We tasted so much food - fish tacos, oysters, crab, shrimp etc. Dietary preferences were easily accommodated. Part of the tour is in a traditional taxi and the last half was walking. Our guide knew the city so well and was friendly fluent. We learned about the people, their lives, families and businesses. It's a great tour!
A fantastic combination of history, cultural information, and unbelievable food. The guides were wonderful, Mika and Luis. We sampled all kinds of seafood, shrimp, oysters, crab, fish, in various presentations. It was finished with a dessert made out of guava. We would recommend it for anyone.
We had the best time seeing old mazatlan with Wendy. The food was amazing, the other people on the tour were wonderful, or guide was knowledgeable and fun. Thanks for a great afternoon.
Hi Jamie! Looks like you made flavorful memories in Mazatlan. The city is famous for its shrimp and fish. Wasn't it fun to explore the traditional Marisquerias (seafood restaurants) and meet the families who have been serving seafood for decades. Hopefully you will continue to eat like a local and we can't wait to welcome you again soon!
The tour was exceptional. We had a total of six different stops over almost 4 hours. We were the only couple with Maaike as it turned out which was great for us. Every stop featured a different delicious dish. The last stop was for a dessert but we were so replete we were able to get take away.
Hi Mike! Thank you for sharing your experience, exploring traditional marisquerias and more. Mazatlan is a busy fisheries harbor and there are lots of different seafood dishes on local menus that are hiding in plain sight. Hopefully after the Seafood Secrets tour, you've become more confident to eat shrimp and fish like a local. We look forward to welcoming you again on another Flavor Teller tour soon.
We always love to do a food tour whenever we go to a new city. We had an incredible time with our guide Wendy, she showcase some of the best local spots. The food was fantastic and so was the conversation. It was a seafood lovers delight.!
Wendy took us on a gastronomic tour of old town Mazatlan. The food venues were usually street-side kitchens where the locals dine. The fresh fish--clams, crabs, shrimp, was exceptionally delicious, and Wendy is a charming tour guide. TIP: eat lightly at the first stops. There's a lot of food coming.
Do not miss “any “ of the tours offered We have had the pleasure of attending 5 of them and “everyone” was outstanding !! We will be doing a repeat of at least one this year( 2026) when we return to Mazatlan
Hi Daryl and Joan (or should we say: Flavor Teller ambassadors!), Thank you for sharing your experiences on the five different Flavor Teller tours and cooking class. It means a lot to us that you enjoy eating like a local and you're curious to learn more about family-run eateries around Mazatlan. We look forward to welcoming you again in 2026!
This tour was the highlight of my trip! It was an excellent experience all around- from the tasting to the locations. It was great to support all the local businesses and hear the stories behind the food. It was so fantastic that I booked a second tour during my trip and invited more friends to join (the evening tour). Can't recommend enough!!
Hi curious foodie! Thank you for your rave review. Mazatlan's seafood is plentiful, but it isn't always easy to find the local haunts. Hopefully you will continue to eat like a local and we can't wait to welcome you again soon!
