Cette visite privée à pied couvre la région de St James connue officieusement comme le village royal de Londres en raison de ses nombreuses connexions royales. Nous déambulons devant l'EXTÉRIEUR UNIQUEMENT du palais de Buckingham et du palais St James, et à travers deux magnifiques parcs royaux, Green Park et St James' Park. St James's est réputé pour ses Gentlemen's Clubs, et nous en croiserons plusieurs qui fleurissent encore aujourd'hui, quelque 275 ans après leur fondation. Ces clubs sont au milieu de boutiques exclusives, beaucoup ont été créées pour fournir aux messieurs tout ce dont ils pourraient avoir besoin, du fromage et du vin aux chemises et chaussures. Si vous avez de la chance, votre date de tournée pourrait coïncider avec une cérémonie ancienne appelée la relève de la garde, une chance de voir l'apparat royal à son meilleur. Celle-ci a lieu actuellement le lundi, mercredi et vendredi. C'est une visite à ne pas manquer avec des joyaux cachés à chaque coin de rue!

La légende raconte que le parc est verdoyant car l'épouse de Charles II, Catherine de Bragance, ordonna d'en enlever toutes les fleurs. Pourquoi pourriez-vous demander? Vous le saurez lors de la visite !
Construit par Henri VIII sur le site d'une léproserie pour femmes, ce palais a été construit à l'origine pour le fils promis à Henri par sa seconde épouse, Anne Boleyn. Mais les choses ne se sont pas tout à fait déroulées comme prévu !
L'une des anciennes cérémonies de Londres, c'est un spectacle à ne pas manquer MAIS IL N'A PAS LIEU TOUS LES JOURS. Nous devrons vérifier si la cérémonie est prévue le matin de votre visite. Si c'est le cas, vous allez vous régaler car nous verrons différentes parties de la cérémonie à partir de trois endroits différents - nous devrons nous déplacer rapidement pour passer de l'un à l'autre ! MÊME SI LA CÉRÉMONIE EST PRÉVUE, ELLE PEUT ÊTRE ANNULÉE AU DERNIER MOMENT DONC IL N'Y A AUCUNE GARANTIE QUE VOUS VERREZ LA CÉRÉMONIE.
Une chance de voir où le roi Charles III et la reine Camilla ont élu domicile.
Construit à partir de belles pierres de Bath, ce bâtiment a remplacé le palais de Buckingham lors du tournage de Downton Abbey, de la série Netflix The Crown et du film The King's Speech.
L'un des bâtiments les plus emblématiques de Londres, avec son balcon de renommée mondiale, le palais de Buckingham est le bureau de la monarchie et l'un des rares palais en activité au monde. La reine Elizabeth II a vécu ici du lundi au vendredi, mais son fils Charles n'a pas encore décidé où il va vivre. Le palais subit actuellement une rénovation complète, nous devrons donc attendre et voir ce qu'il décide de faire.
Siège des Queens' Life Guards, responsables de la sécurité du monarque depuis 1660. Le nouveau garde part d'ici lors de la cérémonie de la relève de la garde.
L'un des plus beaux parcs royaux avec une abondance de vie sauvage et un magnifique lac ornemental, le roi George IV le plus extravagant d'Angleterre, en a fait ce qu'il est aujourd'hui. Quelques autres monarques avant lui ont également eu leur mot à dire - je vous révélerai tout lors de notre visite !
Utilisé à l'origine pour les joutes à l'époque des Tudor, Horse Guards Parade abrite aujourd'hui deux des anciennes cérémonies de Londres datant des années 1600, la relève de la garde et la parade du drapeau. L'anneau de parade a également été utilisé lors des Jeux olympiques de Londres en 2012 - je me demande si quelqu'un peut se rappeler quel sport a eu lieu ici ?
Autrefois lotissement de l'aristocratie anglaise, il conserve encore un beau jardin au centre.
Cette boutique a vu le jour il y a des siècles comme étal de marché ; comment il a changé depuis lors puisqu'il affiche désormais plus de 90 fromages artisanaux de toute l'Europe.
À l'origine barbier, Juan Floris a rapidement transformé sa boutique en une parfumerie qui prospère toujours près de 300 ans plus tard. Elle produit toujours le parfum Muguet qui fut l'une des premières créations de la boutique mais il en existe bien d'autres qui valent le détour !
Le grand magasin le plus sophistiqué de Londres - le panier a commencé ici ! En parcourant rapidement le rez-de-chaussée du magasin, vous découvrirez quelle caractéristique inhabituelle se trouve sur le toit ainsi que la nature d'un concours parrainé par le magasin. Intrigant!

- Le tour couvrira environ 2 miles au total.
- Il fera beau ou mauvais temps, ne soyez pas rebutés par la météo. Portez des chaussures et des vêtements confortables et, si nécessaire, munissez-vous de vêtements imperméables et d'un parapluie.
- En raison des distances impliquées et de la rapidité avec laquelle nous pouvons devoir marcher entre les épreuves, cette visite n'est pas recommandée aux personnes ayant des difficultés à marcher.
- Les visites commencent à l'intérieur ou à l'extérieur du Deli Robuchon sur Piccadilly. Heure de rendez-vous à confirmer une fois la réservation effectuée.

Learned so much today, from who’s who at the Changing of the Guard, how St James’ Park became a park, masses about the monarchy from Henry VIII to now, to fun facts about Fortnum’s London honeys and marmalade competitions and men’s clubs! Sandy’s knowledge of the Royals is so extensive, it was like we had a personal member of the family walking with us! She took her time, explained what was coming up, connected places to people, and people to their place in history. She gave a personal glimpse into what life was like since the beginning of English heritage. Seeing the changing of the guard from the beginning was an added bonus she was able to include! If you want a walking history lesson, and come out feeling like you “know” the royals, this is the tour and Sandy is your guide!

Sandy, our guide for this tour, was prompt and very knowledgeable of St James and the Royal Village. I would highly recommend her, especially for first time London visitors. The walking tour does move fast and is roughly 3 hrs on foot.

Sandy, our guide for the morning, was already waiting for us at the starting point. There was only 4 of us on this tour, which immediately felt relaxed and just the type of experience we were looking for. After a few facts and figures and explanations on how the the mornings tour would run, we were off. Immediately I could tell we were going to enjoy the experience, Sandy had clearly spent a lot of time preparing the tour and doing her research on Royal St James. We were about to find out not only about the Royals who called St James home but the nobility and local characters that had moved west from the city to establish new lives. Although the history of St James went back to before Henry VIII, we focussed on the last 300 years or so, which was very much what we wanted. Sandy brought to life not only the monarchs of the Georges, the Williams, the Annes and Victoria but also the people that had flocked to the area once the royals were in residence. A highlight of the tour was the changing of the guard at St James Palace and Buckingham Palace with the Grenadier Guards in all their splendour accompanied by marching bands. Always good to see the crowds jump when the drums start the procession with such a clash when you are only a couple of feet away from them. Although it was a hot day with Sandy cramming a lot of interesting facts and answering lots of our questions, the tour seemed over in a flash. If you are looking for a smaller. more personal tour, would highly recommend. We plan to join Sandy on further tours soon, including Hampton Court and Westminster....Can't wait!!
Hi Sue, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the St James' tour and, as we talk about some of the monarchs from all four dynasties of royals since 1485, there are inevitably some weird and wonderful tales to be told about them all!! Although the St James' tour is a wonderful experience with or without the Changing of the Guard, there is no doubt that the pageantry adds a certain something and you're right, if you happen to be standing beside the band when they start to play, it can give you a bit of a fright! Tour started promptly, and our guide explained everything we would definitely see and what we would hopefully see. This was a small intimate tour and our guide (Sandy) explained that she only toured with small numbers so that she could be attentive to the group and more importantly answer any questions. Sandy had obviously done plenty of research in support of the tour with plenty of little anecdotes as well as the key historical facts. Being a small group we were able to explore the little alleys, narrow streets and tiny square that were tucked away, each with a story to tell and ones that Sandy brought to life. Although it wasn't guaranteed we were able to see the changing of the old guard at St James Palace and the new guard at Wellington Barracks. It meant some swift footwork but Sandy had already explained this and checked we were all happy with making a few quick moves to make the most of the spectacular of the Marching Bands and the Grenadier Guards, responsible for protecting the King. It wasn't all rush and we had time to shade from the sun and have more fun facts and history explained to us, with lots of chances to ask questions. If you love intimate, historical tours with a friendly and knowledgable host, can't recommend enough and will definitely book more tours with Sandy......Wear comfy shoes!!

The walk around St james was extremely informative. Following a return to London and more specifically this particular area, sandy our guide gave me such a great insight to the extensive history of this place through the detailed descriptions provided throughout the tour Thoroughly recommend this tour to not only foreign tourist but locals as well
