What a fantastic 2 hours this trip was. Exploring the 4 brewhouses and tasting there excellent beers. Our guide Alisja was a delight to be with and very knowledgeable and funny also. Highly recommend this trip you won’t be disappointed. Thanks Mick & John.
We are 2 English speakers who live in Germany about 2 hours from Cologne. We wanted to give our Australian friends a special German experience and thought a Kölsch Tour in Cologne would be ideal. With all due respect to our guide who was friendly and polite, she could tell us very little or nothing about Kölsch beer, the history of it or the brewing techniques. She recited a short pre-learnt description of Kölsch drinking etiquette but if we asked questions about other cultural aspects of Cologne she didn't have much to say. For example Carneval in Cologne, which is a deeply loved cultural event, she only said she didn't like it. Other questions like the different Kölsch brewing techniques or the history of the Kölsch pubs we visited she couldn't tell us anything. At times there were awkward moments of silence, then we in desperation quickly redirected the conversation on to other unrelated topics to make the atmosphere more relaxed. We felt the tour lacked a knowledgeable guide who had a love and passion of Cologne and its beer drinking culture. We were very disappointed. It wasn't the guide' s fault, she was poorly trained or perhaps was just unsuited for the job.
Thank you for your detailed and honest feedback. We're sorry that the tour did not provide the depth of knowledge and cultural insight you were expecting. A Kölsch tour should offer much more than a basic introduction to drinking etiquette, and it is disappointing to hear that many of your questions about Cologne, its beer culture, brewing traditions, and local history could not be answered. We appreciate your fair assessment and understand your disappointment, particularly as you wanted to share a special experience with visiting friends. Your feedback has been taken seriously. We are currently reviewing how we staff and deliver this tour to ensure that guests receive the knowledgeable and engaging experience they expect. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. Feedback like yours helps us improve.
Enjoyed trying out various beers at the local breweries and listening to the stories about the local culture 😊
The taverns didn't even know we were coming. At the last tavern, we gave money to our guide to pay for the the beers, which we had done all night. We gave her a little extra for a tip. She took off with everything, leaving us to pay for the beers
Hi there, I am sorry, I tried to find you in the list, but without a name I cannot confirm that you have been on a tour with our company. However, on the brewhouse tours the brewhouses never reserve tables for the tours, no matter which company you book it with. I talked to my guides, nobody is remembering that situation. Can you provide more details? My guides confirmed, that they all and at every time paid the beers. So perhaps as well it was a mistake by the waiter, is that possible? I am really sorry but I totally understand that this does not feel too good. I can only promise, that this wasn´t our mistake. I wish you all the best, Chris from Cologne Guide
Unpretentious fun tour. While tour leader did not share a great deal of beer knowledge, she made up for it in casual lighthearted conversation.
We had a wonderful experience on the beer tour with Alisja! We learned the beer etiquette here in Koln and enjoyed the varieties. All the best to Alisja - it was a simple pleasure to get to know her during the course of the tour and we will always remember her anytime we enjoy a cold Kolsche.
Excellent tour of the Cologne brew houses guided by Kim, who was both charming and knowledgeable.
Super friendly and very entertaining
5 stars!! Our guide Chris was SO knowledgeable of Colorne, the pub history, Kolsch beer... a must do tour and a bargain for beer fans...which my wife is not but loved this tour and Chris' knowledge !
What a great idea! Chris (the guide) was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the history and culture of Kolsch/Cologne. Great way to enjoy the city without feeling intimated about participating in hundred of years of tradition!
