We took a fantastic private tour of the Terracotta Warriors Museum in Xi'an with Lily Sun China Tours. The tour was greatly enhanced by our guide, Shine. Shine spoke fluent English and was easy to understand. She was also very knowledgeable about the Terracotta Warriors and she provided context that we would not have otherwise received. We arrived in Xi'an by train. A Lily supplied driver met us at the train station and drove us to our hotel. Shine and our previous day's driver met us at our hotel the next morning. The driver stayed with the mini-van during our tour which gave us comfort that our luggage was safe and secure. We arrived early and spent about 3 hours at the museum. Given our time constraints, we arrived at the Xi'an train station in plenty of time to catch our train to Beijing. We would highly recommend Lily Sun China Tours in Xi'an, Chengdu and Beijing. We made inquiries with several other tour companies. Lily Sun was by far the most straightforward and accommodating. The price of the tour was competitive, neither the least nor the most expensive.
Michael was an amazing tour guide, and the day we spent with him is one we’ll always remember. We happened to book our tour during the Qingming Festival without realising how busy it would be, but Michael handled everything brilliantly. He arranged earlier transport, helped us avoid long queues, and made what could have been a stressful, crowded day feel smooth and enjoyable. What really stood out was that Michael isn’t just knowledgeable about the history—he truly knows the area and how to navigate it efficiently. That made a huge difference to our overall experience. The itinerary was fantastic. We visited the Terracotta Warriors, and also had the chance to build our own terracotta models, which was a fun and unique touch (and a great souvenir to take home). Afterwards, he took us to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and gave us great insight into the Tang Dynasty. He also helped us book the Tang Dynasty evening show—securing discounted tickets and arranging transport both ways, which made everything completely hassle-free. Although the tour was expected to be around 8 hours, Michael spent over 12 hours with us without rushing anything. He genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience. Highly recommended—if you’re visiting, you’d be lucky to have him as your guide.
Jackie was an amazing guide! He was very informative and made learning fun! Time was spent effectively and we got back at 5pm as stated! Would totally recommend this tour with Jackie!
Our tour guide Cathy and the driver were very professional, shared the local history, and took us to enjoy authentic local food, making the experience truly enjoyable.
Fantastic day out. Jackie is incredibly knowledgeable about local history and is widely read. He helped navigate the queues at the terracotta warriors museum and had lots of insider knowledge and nuances, pointing things out that would otherwise be missed. A highlight of the day was lunch at a local restaurant where the must have biang biang noodles were served. Don’t miss out on these!
Jackie is a super fun and motivated guy, knows a lot about Chinese history! He is always trying to help and is super polite. Was a great experience for sure, can only recommend doing this tour with him. His English is also very good as he is also an English teacher. The restaurant he took us before the show was amazing, make sure to order the pork sweet sour!
My family and I spent a wonderful week in Xi’an in December 2024 and our experience was made truly unforgettable thanks to Michael, our exceptional tour guide from Lily’s Private Tours. As this was my first time visiting China, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but Michael went above and beyond to ensure our trip was smooth, enriching and memorable. Michael is fluent in English and effortlessly communicated historical and cultural insights throughout our visit. He tailored our itinerary to fit our interests and needs, and his attention to detail, friendliness and deep knowledge of Xi’an’s rich history made each day a pleasure. We visited many of the city’s highlights, including the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum (Terracotta Warriors), the ancient Xi’an City Wall (my favourite), the foodie's paradise Muslim Quarter and several other hidden gems we wouldn’t have discovered without him. If you're looking for a personalised, insightful and hassle-free tour experience in Xi’an especially with an English-speaking guide, I highly recommend Lily’s Private Tours. Ask for Michael if you can. He truly made our trip special.
Judy - was and is the Best! We had a fabulous day with her! We were picked up from our hotel (Grand Hyatt) and driven in comfort to the Warriors! Judy told us loads of great facts and literally took us by the hand and guided us into the park and around the amazing Warriors! We were a group of 3 - 2xUK and 1 NZ and have very little Mandarin between us - Judy just made it so easy and a super enjoyable experience! We spent about 3 hours there before heading to the Walled City for lunch and then we headed to the up the Wall which is also amazing! Judy took control of the whole thing- walked us through it all- got us back to the car and then dropped us off! A brilliant day! If you just need someone to sort you from start to finish- shes your guide! I would 100% recommend her! Thanks Judy!!!
We booked this wonderful tour last minute and it exceeded our expectations! Judy, our incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, was a joy to spend the day with. She gave us so much great information and history that made all the difference in our understanding and appreciation of the fascinating culture of Xian. As a native of the city, she beamed with pride as she told us about her hometown...that we now know is one of the world's 4 ancient capitals! Do yourself a favor and book this tour...be sure to request Judy. You will not be disappointed! :-)
I had a good time on this tour with Cathy. She has a lot of knowledge about the warriors and she was always happy to take me and my sister pictures. This made the tour very enjoyable. Having Cathy there made the experience more memorable because I was able to understand and made it very hassle free. She was very sweet and I felt she istened to our needs. The car ride was very comfortable too and very convenient for us. I recommend this tour and I would request Cathy if you can.
