Elena, our guide was fantastic! She took us to a variety of great small restaurants to get a true taste of Berlin. Along with leading us to the delicious food, she was very knowledgeable about the history of the Berlin neighborhoods and we learned a lot about the history and the current culture.
Thank you very much for leaving us such a lovely 5-star review. We're happy to read you had a great time in Berlin with Elena. Safe travels and all the best from the Fork & Walk team!
We have done many food tours in other cities and had hoped that with this tour we would experience what was unique (both classics and trends) in Berlin. Our stops were: a local hot dog stand; a coffee shop (where we had South American coffee); a Portuguese/Greek pastry shop; an asian bun shop; a local convenience store where be bought a can of beer; a middle eastern restaurant and an ice cream parlor. All of these places were very nice and I'm sure are popular among locals, but (other than the hot dog stand) none of them featured anything that was unique or particularly interesting, or that I couldn't get at home. We were very disappointed that we took 4 hours (!) out of our day for this experience.
Dear Bill, it is unfortunate to hear you were not able to appreciate Berlin's cultural history represented in its culinary offerings. It is also quite sad to hear you talk about the tastings as a ''hot dog'' or ''Asian bun''. It does indicate that you missed the story behind the dishes and the strong links to Berlin's culinary past and present at each location. We cannot force anyone to listen on tour. But we also are disappointed when receiving a 2-star review where it clearly indicates a lack of understanding or desire to listen and instead rant publicly. Additionally, food tours anywhere in the world are not about ''not what you couldn't get at home''. They are linked to how it made it to their shores, who is behind it and why and how this translates into the culinary story of that destination. And most importantly, supporting local gastronomy, where by the business is e.g. Berlin owned and feeding local gastronomy and economy. It seems our concept was not suited to you. Or you were possibly seeking a German standard food tour of schnitzel and pork knuckle? It is also a shame, if you did not enjoy the tour, that you did not personally reach out to us either prior and post tour to find out what you have booked and why you did not receive what you thought you should have. Reaching out organically is always a better choice than hiding behind a screen.
Excellent food with great stories to accompany it. Tiago was a wonderful guide who I highly recommend.
Excellent review! Thank you very much for your 5 stars and we'll make sure to pass them on to Tiago.
We had a great time with Will, a very experienced tourguide. He adapted the tour to our wishes, very flexible. Fantastic day! Marleen
Thank you Marleen! Happy to hear you had such a lovely time with Will :)
Our family of four (two late 40s adults and two early 20s) had a wonderful food walking tour with Elena. She was informative and share a lot of history and context for the food and areas we explored
Wonderful to hear you and your family had a lovely time with Elena! Thank you so much for the kind words and we hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Berlin!
I have done many food tours, but this one topped them all. Our guide was so knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions. The food was perfect and the mix of food, history and knowledge was so well put together. I had my 14yo not knowing how he’d like it but he agreed we could’ve done this all day long. Can’t recommend fork n walk tours enough! If you’re looking for fun, great food, easy history and an all over great experience. Look no further!!!!
Bringing kids on food tours can be tricky. We are overjoyed to read, our tour has hit the mark with both you and your teen! Hope to welcome you again .
we really enjoyed our tour with Holger. informative with lovely food i wouldn't have thought to try otherwise and really enjoyed. nice to see around Berlin as well, the art work was amazing and seeing some historical sights was really lovely. it ended up just being us booked on for that day which was lovely as it meant we could adapt the tour and we were even able to stop off at a shop and get some souvenirs on the way. the only downside was the other recommendations list came through several days after we returned and it would have been nice to have this before but we are hoping to come back next year so we can visit some of those places then
Glad you got to experience a culinary adventure with our beloved Holger! And yes, you will definitely have plenty more to try on your return :)
Wonderful tour! Elena was a perfect tour guide. We ate delicious food and learned a lot about Berlin.
Thank you for the nice review. We enjoy words of appreciation ❤️.
You can't come to Berlin and not do this food tour. We had a fantastic time and really valued learning about the food history of the city (along with eating tons of amazing dishes I've never heard about before and would have missed if it weren't for this tour!) We loved our guide, Violeta, who was so fun to hang with and very knowledgeable about the city and food scene. A highlight was when I casually mentioned we still haven't had a beer in Germany and she was like "let's go and fix that!" and we made a pit stop at a craft brewery during the tour.
Hello Kara, Violeta sends her best regards!! She absolutely loved exploring the city with you two ladies!! And I believe she is still secretly dreaming about the craft, berry beer you all shared!!
We really enjoyed this experience. We couldn't book on when we immediately arrived in Berlin, therefore we had visited a couple of amazing places before the tour, so we were a little worried that our expectations had already been met but we were not disappointed. Tiago's tour was excellent, very interesting and informative with excellent insight into local history. He made us feel very at ease and we thoroughly enjoyed the hours spent in his company. We finished the tour saying how we wished we had completed a food tour in other countries that we had been to recently.
