Description
Il y a une forteresse médiévale Amberd sur le versant sud du mont Aragats, loin des villes trépidantes. Il se dresse sur la falaise rocheuse à une hauteur de 2100 mètres protégée des deux côtés par des gorges profondes à la jonction des rivières Amberd et Arkashen. L'altitude est de 3402 m; la surface est de 0,12 m² ; la profondeur est de 9 m. Il existe une station météorologique, équipée sur la côte orientale du lac.

Le complexe du monastère Saghmosavank est situé sur la rive droite de la rivière Kasakh, dans le village de Saghmosavan. Selon la tradition, Saghmosavank a été fondée par Grigor Lusavorich (Grigory l'Illuminateur).
Le complexe du monastère de Hovhanavank est situé dans le village de Hovhanavan, au bord de la gorge de la rivière Kasakh. Peut-être était-il dédié au Jésus Baptiste St. Hovhannes Mkrtich.
Il y a une forteresse médiévale Amberd sur le versant sud du mont Aragats, loin des villes trépidantes. Il se dresse sur la falaise rocheuse à une hauteur de 2100 mètres protégée des deux côtés par des gorges profondes à la jonction des rivières Amberd et Arkashen. Il n'y a qu'une seule route sinueuse qui y mène et qui traverse les montagnes. C'est pourquoi il est impossible de s'y rendre en hiver quand tout est recouvert de neige. L'histoire d'Amberd remonte au 7ème siècle. Malgré une excellente protection d'Amberd, elle fut envahie par les Seldjoukides venus d'Asie centrale à la fin du XIe siècle. L'architecture d'Amberd est simple. Les murs de la forteresse sont faits de tuiles massives de basalte qui servaient autrefois à protéger des obus et des armes de siège. À certains endroits. Des fondations de construction et quelques murs avaient été conservés à l'intérieur de la forteresse.
Le monument de l'alphabet arménien situé sur le versant ouest du mont Aragats a été construit en 2005 et dédié au 1600e anniversaire de la création de l'alphabet arménien.

Getting a tour when you have limited time is the best way to know the city you are visiting. I had a great time being solo traveller since I own my time. Gagik let me spend all the time I need playing in the snow and even became my photographer. The tour itself was short since there only 3 destination in this package but the amount of time I spent on those places made it worth while.
