Description
Pour toute personne intéressée par l'expérience juive américaine, cette visite explore l'histoire d'origine d'une communauté qui a contribué à l'histoire américaine depuis les premiers jours de la colonisation. Plus tard, l'histoire juive américaine est beaucoup plus explorée, mais nous explorons rarement les histoires des premiers Juifs sur le continent, de la première synagogue et des Juifs de la Révolution. Itinéraire
À Castle Clinton, nous allons apprendre l'histoire du fort (construit pour la guerre de 1812) et son rôle de plaque tournante de l'immigration à New York de 1855 à 1890. Aujourd'hui, les billets sont vendus pour Ellis Island et la Statue de la Liberté.
Cette glorieuse structure a été construite en tant que bureau de douane, mais était également le site du premier fort construit pour défendre la colonie néerlandaise de New Amsterdam.
Nous verrons l'épicentre du système financier américain, ainsi que la statue de Fearless Girl qui affronte hardiment la structure géante.

Une visite à Lower Manhattan doit inclure un arrêt au 911 Memorial.

Jonathan is a knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. We had a fantastic introduction to the city learned some of the Jewish history. His bagel and pizza recommendations hit the spot. He has lots of information to share and I would love to have him as my tour guide again.
Although I've lived in/just outside of Manhattan my whole life, I've never taken a deeper exploration into Harlem until today! Jonathan led a Jewish History of Harlem tour that was the perfect balance of informative, fun and easy to understand. We meandered the streets, stopping every few blocks for another piece of history we would've otherwise overlooked. His knowledge of the city as a whole, and this neighborhood (as well as many others that found their way into our conversations) was evident. It is clear he has a passion for history and culture and I'd be interested in joining another one of his tours soon!
