Description
Le fait qu’il y ait une présence juive en Grèce depuis des siècles échappe à la plupart des gens et même à certains Grecs ! Ma visite dure environ 4 heures et plonge dans la riche histoire de la communauté juive athénienne. Nous visiterons l'emblématique synagogue Beth Shalom, un bâtiment magnifique et bien plus encore. Ensuite, nous explorerons la synagogue Etz Haim, symbole de résilience et d'esprit durable de la communauté juive grecque romaniote. Ensuite, vous rejoindrez à quelques pas le mémorial de l'Holocauste des Juifs grecs. À un rythme un peu plus léger, nous visiterons le marché aux puces et découvrirons ses origines tout en recherchant des trésors cachés. Poursuivant notre voyage, nous passerons par l'Agora grecque antique, qui est considérée comme la plus ancienne synagogue de Grèce. Avant la fin du cours, nous visiterons le Musée juif d'Athènes. Pour couronner notre visite, nous mangerons un délicieux repas préparé dans un restaurant casher.

Our Jewish tour of Athens was outstanding, thanks to Angela. Her knowledge of Jewish history and culture brought every site to life, and she made the experience both informative and enjoyable. Very interesting tour of Jewish life in Athens. Great to hear that Jews here feel very safe today. As elsewhere in Europe, horrifying to see and hear what the Nazi’s did to the Jewish Community and others, but grateful to the many Greeks who helped the Jews escape and took them in

Angela was both enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable about Greek Jewish culture and history , she spent extra time with us and was relaxed and refreshing to spend a half day walking Athens.
