Description
Pas besoin d'aller à Rome pour voir les ruines romaines, ni même St Albans, Bath ou York. Bien que les gens étaient tous prêts à vivre ici, ce sont les Romains qui ont fondé la ville moderne de Londinium qui, au fil des millénaires, s'est métamorphosée en ce qui est peut-être la plus grande ville du monde. Cette visite privée à pied vous emmènera dans des endroits peu visités au cœur de la ville de Londres, où se trouvent encore les vestiges de bâtiments romains, cachés parmi tous les gratte-ciel du 21e siècle.

Nous commençons à l'ombre de la cathédrale Saint-Paul. Il y a une raison pour laquelle cette belle cathédrale est ici et c'est à peu près la même raison pour laquelle auparavant, elle abritait un temple pour la déesse romaine Diane.
A quelques mètres de là où nous commençons à St Pauls, l'ancien temple romain de la déesse Diane, nous trouvons nos premiers vestiges romains, cachés de la rue ainsi que quelque chose de beaucoup plus ancien !
Un tronçon du mur romain découvert uniquement grâce à la Luftwaffe pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
L'une des anciennes portes romaines de Londres avec quelques sections merveilleusement préservées du mur de la ville romaine à proximité.
Nous verrons ce mur à plusieurs endroits, y compris là où vous ne vous attendriez jamais à voir des ruines romaines.
La belle vieille salle qui est au centre de l’ancienne City of London Corporation domine la place, mais si vous regardez de plus près, nous verrons les connexions romaines.
Sous les rues romaines d'origine de Londres, nous marcherons sur les traces des gladiateurs de l'amphithéâtre romain, découverts il y a quelques décennies à peine.

Le cœur même du vieux Londres romain avec ses bâtiments en pierre majestueux et accablants.
Devant ce magnifique bâtiment ancien, on se croirait dans la Rome antique.
Cet ancien marché victorien est construit sur le modèle de son prédécesseur romain et si nous avons de la chance, nous pourrons peut-être en voir une partie où vous vous y attendrez le moins.
A l'ombre du célèbre cornichon, nous trouverons un mémorial romain inattendu.
Un beau mémorial à l'un des plus anciens citoyens de Londres.
Les restes de la porte romaine ici sont enterrés sous le parc nouvellement aménagé mais nous pouvons voir le tracé du mur et d'autres choses.
Le plus récent musée de Londres et avec de superbes murs romains et des artefacts.
Juste à l'extérieur de la tour de Londres, nous verrons la statue de cet empereur romain légendaire
Nous visiterons plusieurs parties de l’ancienne muraille romaine qui entourait jadis la ville.
Dans cette belle vieille église, entre autres choses, nous verrons la plus vieille arche de Londres, ainsi que les vestiges d'une vieille maison romaine.
Pas strictement romain, mais peut-être les ruines les plus belles et les plus paisibles de Londres.
Nous visiterons les sites des thermes romains à Londres.
Nous y trouverons peut-être la seule partie restante du pont de Londres à l’origine.
Nous verrons le monument au grand incendie de Londres et nous nous tiendrons à l'endroit où il a commencé. À proximité se trouvent des visuels fascinants sur la façon dont Roman Londinium était il y a 2 000 ans.
Nous verrons des centaines d'objets romains avant de nous rendre sous terre pour visiter l'ancien temple de Mithra.

A great value! Our tour guide Kevin was friendly, told interesting stories about London’s history, and went at a perfect pace. You have to be able to walk for three solid hours without break, but the pace is reasonable. He takes you into some quaint and interesting areas that are off the beaten path, as well as hitting a lot of the big sites within/near Roman London. Bring your best walking shoes, a bottle of water, and prepare to have a great time!

This was an amazing tour and Kevin is a wonderful tour guide! He has an abiding passion for history and makes the Roman and Norman Saxon periods in London come alive. We visited incredible sights - some that are in plain sight but would be overlooked without an informed guide and others that are hidden underneath buildings and in parking garages! Kevin opened the doorway for me to Roman London. I had downloaded several walking tours from the Internet but decided on Kevin instead. I’m glad I did. He not only took me to all the Roman sites in London but explained them in the context of Roman Londinium. Along the way I got a double dose of London history ranging from Dickens to the Blitz. Kevin is not only knowledgeable but very personable. He’s a really good guy. Take this tour, save yourself a lot of wandering down dead ends, see Londinium in a highly organized manner, and prepare yourself for a fun experience.
