Pérouse, la capitale régionale, est une ville ancienne située dans le centre-nord de l'Ombrie. Le centre historique est construit sur les hautes collines de la rive droite du Tibre
La Rocca Paolina, ou forteresse de Paolina, se trouve en plein centre historique de Pérouse et on peut y accéder par une porte de Porta Marzia ou par le système d'escalator qui relie la Piazza Italia à la Partigiani.
Porta Marzia est une ancienne porte étrusque datant du IIIe siècle avant J.-C., autrefois la principale entrée sud de la ville, aujourd'hui incorporée dans les murs de la Rocca Paolina comme un exemple remarquable de l'architecture classique préservée.
Corso Vannucci est la rue principale de Pérouse, une avenue piétonne animée bordée de bâtiments historiques, de boutiques et de cafés, reliant les principales places de la ville et offrant une vue imprenable sur la vallée de l'Ombrie.
Le bassin supérieur en marbre a douze côtés divisés en vingt-quatre panneaux lisses de pierre rose d’Assise. Chacune est séparée par un nombre égal de statuettes de marbre blanc de Carrare posées sur des rebords entre les panneaux. Certaines des figures représentent des personnages de l'histoire de la ville et des légendes, tandis que d'autres sont symboliques.
La cathédrale Saint-Laurent est située dans le centre historique de Pérouse sur la place IV Novembre, sa façade sud faisant face à la place.

Simona truly captivated us with her guided tour of Perugia. We have a new appreciation for this Umbrian town. The underground ruins were especially interesting to us, with the explanations going back to the Etruscans and how to spot Etruscan vs Roman etc Grazie Simona!
Perugia is wonderful. But the guide really did not bring it to life with stories. A very nice person, warm, warm and great English, but we did not feel we left with any much more knowledge than before.

For first time visitors to Perugia I HIGHLY recommend this tour.We were so lucky to have the lovely Marika to show us around below and above this beautiful city.She was highly knowledgeable but also FUN..There is a lot of historical information to take on board when trying to understand how Perugia began but she showed us everything with such patience and without any rush or worry about time constraint.She gave us some top class tips for restaurants which became the highlights of our wonderful short stay in the area.She thought it was very special that we were from Cumbria (UK) visiting Umbria (Italy) and drew so many interesting Roman connections between the two distant regions..so much we have since researched and all fact!!Thanks so much Marika!!
Our guide was wonderful. It was pouring rain when the tour started so he changed the plans and took us to a museum. When the weather cleared up, we finished the tour. Great time and a great introduction to Perugia.
