If you are looking for a tour of Sofia then look no further we can't recommend the tour and especially our guide, Pavlina enough. We were picked up at our hotel and walked for 3 hours around Sofia (you dont walk great distances) enjoying the key sights which included the St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral, St. Sofia Church, St. Nikolas Russian Church, City Garden, Ivan Vazov Theatre along with several others. Pavlina, our guide, was excellent - so knowledgable but also shared many personal experiences of her life growing up in Sofia which really gave us an incredible insight into the culture and challenges that those living in the City have faced over the previous 40 - 50 years so a massive thank you to her. The tour was definitely the highlight of our weekend and we learnt so much and we felt was great value.
We were very fortunate to explore Sofia with Marina as our guide – and it was simply unforgettable. Marina brings the history of this fascinating city to life in a way that goes far beyond the usual sightseeing. Her passion for Sofia is palpable in every sentence. What particularly excited us: Marina connects ancient Thracian history, Byzantine influences, and the communist past into a cohesive narrative that ties everything together. In the end, you not only understand what you have seen, but also why it is important. Additionally, her charming and humorous manner – the group laughed heartily several times, yet there was always enough space for deeper questions. Marina knows the answers to just about everything, and when you think you can surprise her, she just smiles and shares an anecdote that you won't find anywhere else. Absolutely recommended – book this tour while you are in Sofia. You will not regret it!
Guide Pavlina was very knowledgeable and thorough throughout the entire tour sharing the history of her country.
This was a personal walking tour. My guide (I am so sorry I have forgotten your name) was absolutely lovely and so well informed. I highly recommend this tour.
Super interesting with a VERY good guide (Pavlova) Enriching experience highly recommended, I would say unmissable
Pavlina picked us up near our hotel. She showed us the important buildings and historical sites across the city, while explaining the history of Sofia and Bulgaria in detail. We were given tips on what to see next and she went out of her way to make sure we had a good time. She helped us make great memories of Sofia. I highly recommend this tour!
Very interesting and thanks to the very pleasant guide, it was a very complete and dynamic tour. the explanations in the guide were very clear
This guided tour to the city of Sofie was quite good and gave you a overview of the old part of the city and its history. Since Sofia was just a small town with under 20000 inhabitants 150 years ago than it became the capital of independent Bulgaria the old part is a pretty concentrated. Some of the sites are very impressing, my favourite was st Georg church. There are also a lot of roman remains which always is fascinating for a Babar those ancestors lived thousands of miles from the Roman Empire. The guide was knowledgeable and nice and easy to understand.
Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. She spoke perfect English and showed us everything a foreign tourist would want to experience when they are in Sofia and Bulgaria in general for the first time. We were very satisfied and would recommend this tour 100% to anyone who wants to learn some of the Bulgarian history and culture when they are in the country for the first time.
Our tour guide Pavlina was the best! She was so knowledgeable and informative and made sure we saw all the historic sites in Sofia. She went above and beyond our tour time as it ran over a little bit but she didn’t skimp on anything. Highly recommend this tour and Pavlina!
